Changing the rear wheel and sprocket carrier bearings this weekend, and forgot to order new dust/grease seals (I've seen them called several things, but they are the thick rubber ones that go on the right above the wheel bearing and the sprocket carrier on the right).

Assuming they aren't totally trashed am I OK to re-use them or is that asking for premature bearing failure? New ones are due mid week, but I want/need to use the bike before then.

You might get away with it for a couple of days, but I wouldn't do it long term.

Hi

I have virtually never replaced them. But then I would use sealed wheel bearings which should make them pretty redundant anyway

All the best

The seals turned up today (considering they were ordered early Friday morning its pretty impressive) so it all worked out quite nicely.
Thanks for the help
