Remember, this is a fucked up country full of nope which has been biding its time.

There are floating mats of fire ants FFS. Yes, thank you sir, I'll take the boat. Do I get this handy paddle too?

A mate who lives in Houston says his biggest problem is that snakes are trying to get into his house.

Of course you guys are completely correct though, it’s not that bad, everyone is obviously just overreacting about the whole thing 🙄[/img]

There are 500,000 properties in Dallas, you've shown a picture of ~40 of them and then declared that I'm wrong and that the entire city is flooded. If you follow the link I provided above, it shows a map of where the flooding is.

Not flooded

also not flooded

Show me these words where I said you were wrong and where I’ve said an entire city is flooded? I wasn’t aware that an entire city comprised of a couple of miles...

It’s fantastic when people generate internal monologue and then convince themselves that someone else said it and it wasn’t all just made up in their head.

Also not flooded...

A lot of the people pushing the boats in the footage I've seen, appear to be local volunteers, not rescue crew. They certainly weren't dressed any better for it than the people in the boats.

Maybe I'm not understanding the scale of it? I wonder how far it is to dry land for most?

I drove through Houston two summers ago. The interstate runs through much of it at house roof level or higher, giving a 'great' view across the city's outskirts, I was quite in awe of just how far the housing developments stretched over huge flat plains.
The approach to the city was mile upon mile of large oil industry developments, I couldn't believe just how one city could occupy so many miles.
Many of the boat rescue crews are just average Joe's who answered a plea from some admin wallah to lend a hand. The interstate was being used as a boat ramp to launch from (that's another thing, 6 lanes in each direction, that part of the interstate is fucking huge and driving it with thousands of shitty drivers gave an adrenline rush far greater and for much longer than anything Alton Towers could ever provide).

Our county here in FL had a bit of unrelated localised rainfall this last week. Would probably have made the national news if Texas wasn't a bit wet, we only got 21 inches (53cm) and one death over four days.

You can drown them with washing up liquid.

You could do a decent job of cleaning the water in your house by chucking a litre of bleach into it every day, assuming you have a lot of bottles on hand (unlikely).

No matter how prepared for disaster (natural or otherwise) you think you are, there's always that one thing you forgot to stockpile, eh.
Shocked

I was pondering earlier what happens with wildlife, you'd assume the birds GTFO and other animals hide the best they can, whilst humans who fully comprehend what's coming their way decide to stay Thinking

It's the fish I feel sorry for. When the Thames tributaries burst their banks and it flooded round here, a couple of years back, all of the fields were under a few feet of water for a couple of weeks. When it receded there were thousands of fish left behind and they obviously died. Imaging thinking your world had suddenly grown dramatically only for it to all be taken away and for you to be left gasping for breath on the grass.

Unless you've been flooded it is hard to appreciate the damage dirty, turd-laden water can do to an area so these yanks have my sympathy. Some poor bugger has to clean it all up at great risk to personal health - it isn't just a case of swilling your floor with Domestos because the water wrecks everything it covers, from plasterwork to street light electrics and it all has to be treated or replaced.

This was my village in 2015, and the buildings you see are only just being demolished now, nearly 2 years later...
