I don't know if the op's alarm is dying or not but based on empirical evidence I would say the alarms are unreliable in the long term. So far I've had a failure rate of 100% personally. When I talked to the tech he didn't say "Oh that's odd it's unusual to have one fail" it was "the board is dead, we don't make them and we don't have any spares. Could be the fluid leaking out of the sensor ball that's quite common but anyway your only option is to remove it completely."

If as is said above they will fail eventually then ripping one out at the first sign of trouble is actually quite firm advice.

You ignition module will also fail eventually, so you'll be changing that as well as getting rid of your alarm then?

Touché. Clapping

<edit>By your other thread I'm guessing this is a CB500, a bike notorious for cam chain tensioner failure and reg/rec failure. As either can incapacitate your bike do you change them on a regular basis just in case?</edit>

Not sure how you got to CB500? Confused It's a Thundercat.

Anyway, point made - I'll continue the wait and see game.

Easily confused sorry.

What you could do is identfy the immobilisation circuits and put connectors in them so if they fail you simply disconnect them from the alarm, plug bridging plugs into them and put the alarm into service mode so the bike still works. That would make considerably more sense to me.

Quite a few S3 failures aren't actually S3 failures, they are caused by radio interference.
For example if you park at the north end of the bike park on London St W2 your S3/S4 wont disarm due to interference from the railway intercom system. Push your bike 20 metres away and it will work just fine.
