He didn't do himself any favours by posting comments on whatever news website it was and twitter.
And from what's been in the news, it doesn't seem that he tried to offer a defence or question the claims about braking distances.

It's almost definitely not relevant, just thought it odd the others ignored it in their coverage, which lets face it, is pretty thin on information surrounding the accident.
Like I said, let's wait until more info is available. No other report mentioned he was arrested and the Standard say not related. He's still in custody, even if not related and witnesses are being requested to come forward.

Around 98% of serious or fatal pedestrian injuries in urban areas (i.e. where pedestrians are most likely to be) are due to collisions with motor vehicles. |

As for there being as many buses and motorcycles as cycles. Piss off, how did they reach that guesswork, counting registered cycles?
And if you factor in distance travellled? Oh yeah, cycists pose as much risk as cars.

I'm sure its already been mentioned in this thread that many cyclist already have liability cover either through home insurance policies or through other means.
You get free insurance if you join british cycling, strava might even offer it as a bonus for being a premium member, but i'll have to check. |
It's voluntary though, not compulsory. With the latest wave of Kamikaze cyclists killing pedestrians, maybe now is the time to introduce a bit more legislation and control, to instill a sense of responsibility for their actions?
