Assuming this is a motorcyle why skim the flywheel instead of skimming the crank and balancing?

Take the engine cover off, start the bike up and hold a file against the flywheel, an hour or so later you'll have taken a bit of weight off it, videoing it will also help us enjoy it later.

I have (access to) a lathe and I've done bits for BCFists in the past, but as I understand it, to make a noticeable difference with lightening a flywheel you need to remove a fair amount of meat, and that done wrong can go badly.

Not the sort of thing I'd do as an experiment for somebody else's bike!

because im not looking for mad gains just something to add a little more fun factor to the bike when i can start enjoying it properly again.

added to the fact its a vtr its not worth the cost of splitting the engine to rebuild it after.

I would have thought that you being quadraspazzed would preclude you riding a bike.

If not quadrospazzed, stop trying to rip off the insurance company.

I doubt it's fun for the person who gets posted your flywheel because you don't want to pay for it. Laughing

I have done similar with a cbr6 generator Im using in a bicycle project. There is not much you can remove. Most will be from the hub and inner face. The rear face mounts the sprag clutch. The OD is quite heavy but is not solid, it retains the magnets in the middle, you dont want them flying off at 14000 rpm.

This would take minutes to do. Most of which would be turning a taper to mount it with and clocking it true.
