My 125cc bike redlines at 50MPH and it's just over that, that when I ease off the throttle the bike seems to cut out (especially if I try to go back on the throttle after easing off, it just won't give any power). So other than changing the sprocket ratio (which is a hassle due to the make of my bike) is there a way I could make the bike handle better at those revs, and be more reliable?

How about letting us know what bike you have.

50mph on the redline isn't usual for a 125 so either there is something wrong or your bike isn't usual.

Either way, it would be necessary to know in order to give any meaningful advice.

WK NM 125 Cafe.

This is the chap who thought his fuel tap was the choke.

Allah alone knows what state the fuelling is in.

I'd recommend pulling the plug and checking the colour but I'd be a'feared that he'd strip the sump putting it back in.

That said, inadvertantly altering the gearing so it's redlining at 50mph in top gear would be pretty special even by BCF standards.

Assuming it actually IS in top gear, a couple of thoughts. One is a slipping clutch. The other is an almost totally toothless front sprocket that's skipping but somehow staying on (I've actually done this with a gearbox sprocket on the Bullet before, you could feel it jumping teeth).

Fuel tap <=> choke

Redlining <=> ???

I do not think that word means what he thinks that it means.

My thoughts exactly, especially as that bike does not have a rev counter
