There will be a rough spot in the cable, either at a low point where water sits or at a tight bend when the cable is in its usual position/route so the inner has heavily worn the outer.
Top tip: There's something wrong with the cable.
You can try blasting brake cleaner down it and working the inner up and down, this can work wonders. Don't try and lube it, this just makes things worse/grabbier - it stops the nylon/teflon/whatever coating from working properly. But you will be best off with just replacing the cable.
Whether you are in danger of the butterfly sticking open without a cable to pull it closed is of course up for debate, it's hard to imagine that manufacturers fit cables for no reason but on the other hand very few people have ever experienced that phenomenon, as far as I know. Maybe you can be a guinea pig, thrash it and see? ____________________ 1994 CB250, 1984 CBX250RS-E, 1989 K100RS, 1995 TRX850, 2016 Z250SL |

Never come across that before, I've owned a handful of the CB250 MC26's and throttle has never been a problem.
Just replace the cable with a genuine part.. why not go the whole hog and buy BOTH cables... |
