Some dog owners are responsible, I never walk mine without poobags and treats. Have a handy pouch thingy with
a bag dispenser on the side that always comes along on walkies. What I don't understand is why some people bag it up
then hang it in a tree? That's just mental. Better off leaving it on the floor if you're gonna do that.

If I had a dog, first thing it would be trained to do is dig a hole and poo in it then cover the hole.
Alternatively a small scoop would be carried, the poo would be scooped up and flung into the distance when noone is looking.

No intention of owning a dog ! Poo bags are a stupid idea. What happens to them? does some poor sod get paidto seperate the plastic or does it go in landfill as is?!?

I think you're getting mixed up with cats. Laughing
If it was easy/possible to train puppies to do that, do you not think people would rather do that than walk miles
carrying a bag of shit in their hand/pocket/bag? As for the bags, I spend a little extra and buy the scented and biodegradeable
ones. Anything the dog does in my garden is collected with a couple of trowels and goes into a large lidded plastic bin full
of VERY bleachy water. Once a week I lift a manhole in my garden which is connected to my downstairs toilet drainage and
flush the lot (which is more of a slurry after a week soaking in a strong bleach dilution) down the sewer with the garden hose.
I only bag it up when I'm out and about. I drop it off as soon as I encounter a suitable bin, there's one where I park my van
on my usual walk.

I don't know what difference it makes or if it is normal practice but it is the parish councils who put the poo bins in my area, not the town council. I don't know who empties them mind.

Met my new neighbors earlier, seem like nice decent people.
They have to be better than the previous dirty, tightfisted, piss-taking leeches who just happened to be African.

Sodded off the Glasgow Distinguished Gentleman's Ride because:

1) Rain and rain and rain and rain.
2) Based on the attendee roster it was looking fit to be just another generic sports/tourer/cruiser chaaaridy patchboi bash. Can we have nothing genteel?

However, this freed me up to go and do some pew-pew on Brother Borg's farm. Airsoft guns are hilarious, full auto tin can shredders.

I'd fitted a heavier spring to my pistol and it locked up a treat, so the day has concluded with me snipping it down a bit, re-shimming the gearbox, and literally oiling my gears. Now I reek of silicone lube and achievement.

If more of the "genteel" people attended - instead of flouncing off in their shooting trousers ( Shocked Shocked ) - then it would attract more genteel-type people.

The Usual Suspects, who invariably look as though they are just there see if each other show up, and only secondarily to stare at you in your Distinguished attire will show up at the opening of an envelope if it has a picture of a motorcycle on it.

So if not enough of the right type turn up, it ends up with the usual bloody boring biker schtick, instead of becoming increasingly interesting, and all because of lack of interested numbers of those of a Distinguished demeanour.

*You have to dust off your deerstalker and go, no matter how few of you attend at first ... so that they don't take it over.

I've thought it through and my conclusion is: nope.

The DGR started at 100% genteel. It could only go one way from there.

There are a limited number of appropriate bikes in any locale and once they're all attending, any further bikes must necessarily be unsuitable, even if the riders are suited - which is also slipping, there were already some manky leather patchbois in evidence last year.

The issue is that those of us who enjoyed it as something different from the usual shouty cruiserbash do care about the interlopers, whereas the interlopers by their very presence demonstrably do not care about us, nor about the event. It's just another generic chaaridy ride for them, like a Santa Run with fake moustaches.

So we cannot win this by simply showing up and gritting our teeth, as our enjoyment gets wrecked by their presence, but theirs is unaffected by ours.

The event needs to be exclusive, literally, and riders told that they are not welcome, regardless of petted lips, stamped feet and lower turnout.

However, the word from the Glasgow organiser was (more or less) "come one, come all, it's all about the numbers".

Poor show, literally: count the GSes, RTs and foggit cruisers.

I see your dilemma.

How about telling them they can't attend unless they curl their mustachios, wear a tweed flat cap and a bow tie over their manky leathers.

I had a nice afternoon hanging out with a good mate, smoking and gossiping until the sun set, then I went to see Heathrow the cat, lay around on his parents' sofa watching Victoria, but then fell asleep, and had to watch it on ITV+1.
