Got a start date for my builder. Next week to be precise. Looking at a 7 week build from ground up to completely finished.

Today was first pairs of glasses ever. OMG I hadn't realised how blurry my eyesight really was. I knew I couldn't read roadsigns at a distance or read off the tv (or the giant projector screen), But with glasses now I could see leaves on bushes as we drove past, texture on the cushions rather than a vague picture.

Amazing really how much we accept, without realising the deterioration. Well me, anyway.

Jeez, I'll have to watch a film with subtitles again, haven't been able to for ages. Smile

Watching MotoGP without feeling like I'm awkwardly stuck in the middle of a domestic (Keith was on holiday (I assume)).

Playstation if you like playing with anyone Smile The PS4 has massively outsold the Xbox and virtually everyone I know has a PS4. I got an Xbox for a few exclusives* such as Halo, Forza, Gears of War etc., it'll be interesting to see if the Xbox One X does anything to re-address the console balance, I assume it'll mainly be bought by people upgrading from the standard or 'S' console.

*obviously they're on PC now

I started wearing specs in my early thirties when I got fed up with not being able to see exactly where my golf ball landed.
Actually, it usually disappeared about 30 yards away if I'm honest.
Pole floats became a lot easier to see too.

You're not at this stage yet but for me, varifocal lenses are the nads.

I drove like a lunatic through town, caned it across the countryside for a right old girlie nag with that MCW bird Cool

Then I had a nice drive through the Cotswolds, alternately bombing along or just meandering through various little towns, clearing my head and thinking my own sweet thoughts. It was a glorious autumn day. Didn''t stop anywhere much, just drove,
Put my "available for work" tag on the computery thing they gave me, but nobody wanted a lift back in from that manor, so by the time I got back, I was a tad tired and would have been grouchy to passengers, so I just switched it off again just as I reached civilisatiion, then popped over to see my mate Hoffy Cool on the way home, and had another right old nag.

Small pleasures in life.
I needed that.

My nan made this for me when I was a kid. It's been packed away for 10 years, just hung it on the wall.

It's all needlework.

don't think so, seems to be "legit" rather than "artistic interpretation"?

Well, whoever this Czechoslovakian pilot was, he sure ended up in a uranium mine, right after he returned to the Czechoslovakia after the war. Thumbs Up

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-British_personnel_in_the_RAF_during_the_Battle_of_Britain#Czechoslovakia

Quote:
Czech fighters earned a reputation for aggressive aerial combat and for skills and bravery.[15] Together with Czechoslovak pilots serving in other RAF units, a total of 88 - 86 Czechs and 2 Slovaks - served, claiming almost 60 air kills. Nine pilots were killed. The top Czech ace was Sgt. Josef FrantiĊĦek, flying with No. 303 (Polish) Squadron, who claimed 17 confirmed kills, making him the highest scoring allied pilot in the Battle of Britain

I am familiar with the history. The uranium mine was a sad joke, that was far too real for us to laugh about. The communist party of Czechoslovakia sended many Czechoslovak heroes to the uranium mines for elleged colaboration with Nazis and then Capitalistic countries. For instance, in the late 1940's (irrc) 11 players of the national ice hockey team got from 5 to 12 years in Jachymov (uranium mine).

Many people that fought outside the Czechoslovakia and the USSR were considered traitors, after the war, even when they fought for allies.

I mean, thanks feck I was born in 1990, right after all this crap. Neutral
