Any Doncaster or vicinity got some good suggestions for routes from there to the Cadwell neck of the woods?

And/or (better still), some decent roads between e.g. Scunthorpe and the general Cadwell area?

Me and a few others did the weekly North Lincs bike nights - but from the York area this can be a bit of a hike, depending on where that week's venue is. One evening in particular was good, though, and I'm pretty sure it took in roads between Horncastle and Caistor. A seemingly never-ending route, almost deserted, not a straight line on it (but no sadistic decreasing radius turns), excellent surfaces, elevation changes, etc.

That's good because they wouldn't let you join their club. Wink

So I would go with the quickest route alone not that anyone could keep up with me through heavy traffic.

Interesting! I ride almost every day on road and twice a week off road - so far this year I've done around 24 thousand miles. I'd be up for meeting at Squires - I know we're both fairly local to the place. PM me when you want to head out York, Hull, Scarborough, Whitby, Goole, Scunthorpe, Pickering, Thirsk, Malton, and / or Helmsley way. There are lots of ace roads - rural, urban and in between.

Don't be shy, now!

I'll PM you in a week or two to remind you. ; - )

Surely the best roads in the vicinity of Doncaster are those leading away from it as fast as possible?

As such, A1 Northbound is my suggestion.

Most roads south of the M180 are pretty good, but the Lincolnshire Wolds are great. Louth, Horncastle, Market Rasen, Lincoln way, you're doing well.
I'd take care on the A631 between Bawtry and Gainsborough. Not that it's a particularly dangerous road, just there's average speed cameras on it. I can't remember if they face the front or back though....

Wonder if I can borrow a GoPro and turn up. There's £250 waiting to be collected from YBF here...
