Posted: 07:28 - 22 Sep 2017 Post subject: Mirrors Fogging Up, Cold Morning |
|
|
Well i have decided to commute into work this morning, and it is the first time i have ever ridden a bike at 6:30 in the morning in cold/dampish conditions
First part of the journey was fine coming out of Chesvegas, then i go onto the bypass (NSL) and as soon as i'm up to speed, my mirrors start to fog up massively, to the point where i can barely distinguish headlights
Thought to myself, it's ok, stick to the inside lane and clear my mirrors when i get to the roundabout at the end of the bypass, but upon slowing down for the roundabout they started to clear again
So my question........ is this normal, or had i just ridden through some strange weather conditions, very light mist possibly ____________________ Current Bike: Honda CG125 ES4 // Honda CB600FS Hornet // Triumph Street Triple R |

I remarked on this this morning in the car - I had cleared the mirrors and part-way through the journey they fogged again. A light twist of the mirror button deployed the mirror heaters and they were clear again. It was, however, notable enough for me to mention it to my wife (in the car, at the time). ____________________

Keeping the glass scrupulously clean can help, but I do miss heated mirrors on the bike |

Bob Heath anti fog spray for visors helps slightly with mirrors also.
I don't usually have any mirrors anyway. Actually, got some on my Honda at the moment, better whip them off, it's going green laning on Sunday. |

Ahh, might have just been some strange weather conditions then, maybe a perfect balance of temperature/moisture/wind chill causing the fogging at speed |
Your bike will pass warm air out from around the engine at random in random places at different speeds, some of it will find it's way up past your mirror.
Never had this issue on my ZZR, the mirrors were so far forwards, right on the front of the nose fairing, my hornet they mist when I'm stopped but clear a bit as I'm going,
I just give them a wipe with a finger as they'll just mist again in a moment. ____________________ Looking to pass your CBT / Bike tests in Bury Lancashire? try www.focusridertraining.co.uk Would recommend.

Ride all year round. Virtually all my previous bikes' mirrors have fogged on damp, cold morning (even the tiny bar end ones). To be expected in colder times.
Keep doing lifesavers/over shoulder & wipe mirrors when safe with one finger...carry on. |
