So I switched from my old beat up 600 hornet which i rode for a year, to a somewhat newer, 2007 Z750. All is relatively fine with the bike given it's age, but one thing is bothering me still.

So one day I'm trying to get some riding done before the winter sets in. All is well but FI starts blinking. Given that I spotted no problems I continued riding. After this I went riding a few times for small distances, no problems at all. At this time I didn't knew how to do a diagnosis on the bike.

Today I went out again. Engine pulls fine, clutch is fine and then suddenly before I tried setting her back to second gear suddenly the clutch doesn't respond to anything. I felt like it doesn't have any resistance and it doesn't pop into place. After about 10 seconds, it's back to normal and I can put her in gear. Except the FI light starts flashing. Scared sh*tless that I messed something up I stopped after a hundred meters and turned the ignition off. Turning it on again no FI light, and everything works fine.

When I got home I tried running a diagnosis, but I don't think it's possible without the FI flashing so I didn't succeed.

Should I be worried? What might be the problem? I rather not take her to a mechanic if there is no need, since that would probably cost me another couple hundos and I'm pretty broke as is.

Not sure if this will work, but disconect the battery, just for a while, a few seconds should do the trick, or leave it for a longer period of time, then conect the battery back again. This might errase the fault code from the computer.

The FI gone away after turning the bike off and on again. I'm mostly worried about the clutch messing around might not be just a one time thing. Don't want that happening at higher speeds for obvious reasons.

the clutch is in no way connected to the FI. It's as simple as a mechanical cable pulled by a lever moving the clutch drum.

If the clutch doesn't respond as it should, you are looking at a mechanical problem in the clutch, not a electrical issue with the FI.

Hmm thats pretty strange since the FI started flashing after this particular problem. Nothing with the FI before and since with the exception one time 2 weeks ago.

Guess I'll take her for a spin again tomorrow to a low traffic area and try to reproduce the problem. Then run a diag.

Accordingly to my missus, perfect continuity. She says everything goes straight in one ear and out the other.
