RyanAir is...
...fond of extorting money out of the poorest people.

...a great service to allow poor people to travel more.

...in breach of the magna carta by punishing fellow citizens (with punitive charges)

...a perfectly excellent airline as long as you obey their clearly described rules.

...merely the natural progression of this race to the bottom.

Mebbe they're stripping the seats so they can pack the paupers in like cattle. Seems like a good way to raise some capital, up capacity numbers and lower weight. Win all round Laughing

They have touted standing-room-only short hauls before.

Their doubling-down reminds me of the old joke:

Man goes to scrapyard, asks for a door. £50.
"Oh, the yard up the road just wants £20, but they don't have in any."
Well, when we don't have any, ours are only £10.
"Right, I'll come back when you have none."

If they flew to Larnaca instead of Paphos, I might book a dozen flights, and hang out with my mate once a month, for a few days.

But they don't, and she's a new learner driver and after the last experience, I ain't sitting in a car with her from Paphos to Limassol Laughing

Ahem HK, Luton to Larnaca (in November) with Blue Air, €45. Air-conditioned bus to Limassol, €9. C'mon!

I presume that Ryanair pilots are required to have the same qualifications as pilots for any other commercial airline?

They're also required to pay for those qualifications themselves. I believe most other airlines cover the type rating part at least (£30k ish). I have a lot of good things to say about Ryanair but the way they treat their pilots isn't one of them. I can see why they are having to cancel so many flights at the moment.

The flights to/from Warsaw were drama free. I thought they were perfect but my mate found a few things to moan about. No jet bridge, having to wait on the tarmac to board the plane and the distant/small airport we landed at amongst others. He also complained about having to take a 15 minute bus/tram from the centre to our budget hotel.

Different things for different people I suppose. I would guesstimate the cost to keep my mate happy at around £350 for a 2 night trip instead of the £55 we paid. I wouldn't/couldn't have justified that just to go shooting for a few hours.

For anyone interested I can highly recommend PM Shooter in Warsaw Thumbs Up .
