Is it true eye tests (so prescriptions) vary depending on where you get them? I still don't wear the glasses specsavers 'recommended' I get, as they're too strong/make me feel sick. I'm curious what a different optician would make of my eyesight |

IME, if you need, what are essentially, reading glasses, ie. glasses for close up work, you may find that the prescription you end up with is the weakest you can get. If it is just an age related thing your eyes will deteriorate some more and you'll be back for more tests and another prescription.
Really cheap, non prescription, reading glasses are a bit crap, the lenses are not very good, there is a very small sweet spot, if you're not looking through that bit of the lens, they have a lessened effect or no effect.
I believe the non prescription reading glasses they sell in specsavers are quite good, you get what you pay for!
Non prescription reading glasses will not damage your eyes, according to an eye surgeon!
Digest what TSK says about laser surgery, a friend of mine had cataract surgery a few months ago, he'd previously had the same eye lasered.
He's now got major complications with that eye, for someone who relies on that eye for shooting, he's more than a bit pissed off that his eyesight is worse than it was pre op!
And don't assume you won't get cataracts, everybody does, to some degree! ____________________ "Everybody needs money, that's why they call it money!" |

+1 helpful, however no good for me sadly.
Was hoping to grab a spare pare of sunglasses, but although I have quite a low prescription value (under -2) I have really severe astigmatism, and the prescription drop downs don't go high enough for me for my right eye. |
