Been digging some holes. Using this www.ebay.co.uk/itm/262719926631 Its my first time with 2T and Ive broke it, though it did dig many holes. Looking down the intake and exhaust it has quite a bit of scoring, is this serivicable or fatal? I gave it a good squirt of 4T oil and a wiggle of the rotor free'd it up. I need to make 3 more big holes this week and then a couple weeks before I do any more. Can I continue using it, it now turns over smoothly but I did not try starting. Or should I ebay a new piston/barrel kit to avoid damaging the crank, other bits?

Using 25:1 mix (500ml petrol : 20ml 2T oil) It did not like running without choke so kept it between 3/4 - fully on. Dug several 4" holes in quick sucsession, full throttle for about 5 minutes, we hit some hard ground that it was struggling to break up. Suddenly it slowed and cut out, I gave the pull start a tug, moved a turn then seized. Overheated? I did not let it run any significant time without throttle - I know that means no oil, so avoided.

Bloody awesome tool. Hard clay ground that spade wont touch, this puts an 200mm wide x 900mm deep hole in a couple seconds, but I have a large bruise on my leg.. Embarassed

Thats what the destructions say. Whole litre bottle of oil to use up. Safer to use too much?

No , cos too much oil means a lean mixture which = seize

The oil is a blue colour and became evenly distributed instantly, gave it a good shake but only put half of my 500ml mix into the tank.

Its had one 520ml tank, siezed after 100ml of second tank.

the seizure comes after a lean mixture at high rpm (2 strokes)
you may have a screw to adjust air . very rarely by lack of oïl
if you can make the engine turning (take of sparkplug) , Nothing fatal if you've got compression (test it)
dont use mixed petrol , fill the 2 strokes oïl tank

It does look a bit scruffy Laughing

Are pistons, rings and barrels readily available or will it just be cheaper to by a new one and use your old one as spares?

Yes. Parts are available and cheap but I wont know what fits until I strip it, which can wait until dead.. was hoping someone might know these engines?

The tool cost 117 and a whole replacement engine is 60. I will be happy to buy another if needed, when it works, it works very, very well.

Assuming it was new, send it back. You used it according to the instructions, and it broke after one tank of fuel.

Either the engine was assembled wrong, or there's a problem on the intake side giving a very lean mixture. At £117 new, it isn't going to use high quality parts of have rigorous quality control.
