Well, knowing how much the poiice like to play with new toys, I'm surprised they aren't already doing this ..

If it brings them in revenue, it's guaranteed.

If it helps tackle actual crime that benefits.society, not a chance.

When I see such technology being used to monitor behaviour on the roads, I always think about all the fun I've had on the roads, when I was getting into riding motorcycles, about 10 years ago. Nowadays, even the Land of Beer has a lot of speed traps and unmarked police vehicles, so having some fun may quickly turn into a 6 to 24 months ban.

I never did anything stupid in the cities, that's just asking for trouble. But today even the county roads and highways are under surveillance.

Inevitable. More expensive toys for an increasingly militarised police force. I mean 'service.' Embarassed

Also, don't get caught selling aerial photos of a steam train when that's the job of Network Rail's air operations unit. Shocked

Closed to the public, anyway. They're in there surveilling and dealing with "intel."

There was a piece on the latest gadget show about police using drones do help with things such as search and rescue etc. Using heat cameras and what not. Certainly cheaper than sending up the chopper.

Side Bar: The show is not as good as it used to be.

I don't watch it anymore but it was pretty bad when I occasionally did.

For some reason they for that Craig Charles presenting it. He clearly has no interest or clue about tech or gadgets. I found him bearable or robot wars, but highly irritating on this.
