Hi all.

I have a cbr 600 1989, the problem is with charging. My heated oxford grips went cold and the battery died last week. I bought a new battery and it has lasted a day or two but now wont start the bike. I did not connect the grips back up in case there was an issue with them staying on or causing some kind of drain. If I rev the bike the headlight gets brighter so am not sure what the issue could be. I have a multi meter and with the lights on it gives 14.2 at 5000 rpm.

I can ill afford mobile mechanics rates and my local garage wants £35 per hour to have a look. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Check if you have a battery drain on the earth side when all is switched off.

Ok, will give that a go tomorrow. Bike is under covers on side of house and going nowhere, so I'll see tomorrow. Thank you.

Thank you, that was very helpful. I am hoping it's an easy fix, will work through the online tutorials and see what's what. Thank you again jaffa90.

Fixed, it was the alarm that was playing up. Even though I had deactivated it via fob it still sucked enough power to flatten the battery.
