Break it down:
Time to set up in a machine.
Time to machine.
Time to Clean up.
The engineers is a business for profit not a charity.
£50/pot seems OK to me. ____________________ Disclaimer: The comments above may be predicted text and not necessarily the opinion of MCN. |

Have you asked Tef to do a rebore for you in 1978 where he lives? It's sure to be cheaper, but you'll need to specify it in thous. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

It's also part psychological,. I recently picked up a 'spares' FZ750 with two motors rolling gear and other spares for less than 150 and so while it is greatly satisfying to rebuild a motor the cold hard facts don't often stack up (200 quid for a set of XJ pistons rings for example).
In the aircooled VW world things are different - a rustbucket MOT failure T2 van will cost 1000s still and yet you can get a complete set of new barrels, pistons rings etc.. for about 200 I guess due to the abundant world demand still. ____________________ Now: A100, GT250A, XJ598, FZ750

Indeed they are - pre 91 could work but if they too are worn it's a non-starter. The XJ currently has a Radian YX600 engine but I had notion to re-fit the original 550 engine so it would have matching numbers and in the process also giving it a top-end rebuild and a few more ccs - looks like it's not going to be worth the bother. ____________________ Now: A100, GT250A, XJ598, FZ750
