mmmm... tempting, still not the prettiest

After a year of rampant success with their hot SP version of the already bonkers MT-10, the Japanese rumour mill suggests that Yamaha are on the verge of releasing an SP version of the MT-09, too.

also dafuq?

Quote:
Far more radical than the MT-09 SP is the suggestion that Yamaha’s MWT-9 concept is about to be unveiled as a production model. The wild styling might not all make it through to the showroom undiluted, but there’s not much the firm can do to underplay how radically different it is to a conventional motorcycle.

I honestly prefer the look of mine over the new incarnation of MT09.

i sort of understand the idea of a tilting trike.
in this snowflake age where no one can get hurt and no one has to learn any skills.
but if you make a bike that wide, isnt the obvious answer to get a car?

It'll be a laugh to ride, for a day. Feck knows who would buy one.

The trike sort of looks like a gorilla.

I rode a rented 400cc MP3 reasonably hard in some narrow twisties in the Santa Cruz hills south of San Francisco. The two wheels up make cornering an exercise in understeer rather than outright traction loss. Steering also requires substantially more input to get going. When I got back to Heathrow and rode my SH300 home, I nearly wobbled into one of the parked bikes, the steering was relatively so much more sensitive.

It was also surprisingly heavy. I'd expect a production MWT-9 to weigh in the region of 300 to 450kg.

It's a kind of half-way house to riding a bike, a little bit further than a Can-Am Spyder, for people who want the experience of leaning over but are more concerned about traction loss.

Love them or hate them with Can-am selling well over 100,000 spyders so far it was only a matter of time before other manufacturers wanted a piece of the market.
