I've currently got some cheap headphones I bought in a BP when I was in Australia back in April. I bought them for $8 (less than a fiver gbp) and assumed they'd last a few weeks, I only needed them for satnav while out there. They've lasted far longer than any of my in-ear headphones usually do, and sound reasonable enough to cope with, loud enough for motorways.

Unfortunately no branding on them which doesn't help you in the slightest!

Any thing over £6 is a rip off.

I use speakers in the helmet, which isn't much use to you. However, before that I did use some plugfones (available on ebay), which are essentially insertable earphones built into moldex rocket earplugs. They work nicely as they cut out wind noise, so you don't have to drive them hard to be able to hear (less distortion and less hearing damage).

They can stick out a little so if your helmet is very snug around your ears they may rub.

Unfortunately, cheap does mean shit when it comes to in-ear bud type headphones.
Sennheiser CX-1 produce very acceptable sound for £20.

I do like Sennheiser ear buds - CX-300 and my current CX-400 with a lanyard (which is great on the pushbike, stops the cable pulling). The 400s must be 8 years old now, with tens of thousands of cycling miles in them. The only thing is making sure you get genuine ones, a lot of the "bargains" on ebay and Amazon are knock-offs that are nowhere near as robust or nice to listen to.

The question is irrelevant to me because I never -- knowingly, at least -- ride among the BCF faithful.

Who the fuck needs an emergency spare set of headphones ffs?
Actually, in your case it might not be a bad idea, you wouldn't want to listen to your own thoughts.

I'm looking for a good deal on pair of SENA 10S bluetooth headsets. Best I can find at the moment is about 300 squids.
Want to make full use of the Zumo now its fitted and plug in headphones always seem to come out a bit when I pull my lid
on, I've tried a half dozen different pairs. including hook over ear buds. Besides it will be handy to have my phone available
whilst on the move as well as to be able to listen to nav and music.

I have been using these. As said they pop out fairly regularly.

And plus one for spares, otherwise it is phone wedged up the helmet Laughing

Might be just me, but I can never use ear buds on the bike. They either don't stay in, or they stick out too much and are subsequently wedged too deep inside my ears, or more commonly they just roll over when I put the lid on.

I've started using some £8 Panasonic ultra-thin over the ear type with clip. Doesn't block out as much noise, but stays in place and is more comfortable.

Tried buds for awhile, hated them

cable is a faff
pulled out when putting on helmet
felt disconnected, didn't like not being able to hear properly

In the end bought a pair of uclear helmet speakers, installed them, connected them to a bluetooth receiver. Sound quality is decent

I can't wear any in-ear ear phones, I get fluid in my right ear so can't wear ear plugs whilst riding either. I use over the ear ear phones Skullcandy Hesh. £20 do me fine.

Depends upon whether you want earphones or earplugs. Those are plugs not phones, so won't work very well with your music player.

Rogerborg has linked to cheaper moldable plugs in the past, I've heard of people using that putty with normal in-ear earplugs to make custom molded phones.

Are they actually earphones?

How are they powered etc?

EDIT> Just looking on Decibullz website, seems they are just plugs. Earphones (wireless) start at $120.

I will have to do something, my left ear is fine but leaky right ear lets the side down. Also causes jaw ache so trapped fluid.

Wow, you're gonna hate my recommendation then Smile

I use these:

https://www.skullcandy.co.uk/earbuds/wireless-earbuds/METHODBT.html

And yes, they're fecking expensive. However, they fit really nice in my ears, don't get uncomfortable, charge from a generic micro-usb lead, and last about 8 hours on a charge

Also I don't have a wire running through my jacket to my phone that garottes me every time I take my helmet off, and I have play/stop/next buttons accessible at my neck.

problem I have is that earbuds of many shapes never seem to fit/stay in my ears properly. never have done.

I had some nice ones that hook over the ear, but they ended up being too large for use in helmet...

not tried the earbud with hooks type, mind... could be worth a look.

just these mould type ones which also serve as earplugs seem to kill 2 birds with one stone
