rec me some warm gloves - sub ton price

Still battling on w/ single skin summer gloves but have started to feel the misery a bit lately. Yeah yeah muffs, heated grips, et al. But if it were to be just gloves, which ones? Need to retain a bit of feel, and not be mad thick, etc. Not bothered about water proof, cos I'll probably be able to avoid rain. Preferably w/ reinforced palm and some knuckle armour. Budget - under £100. Hopefully half that.

I use very thin knitted gloves (£3-5, not sure) under my standard gloves, works fine in temperatures as low as -10°C.

I'm currently using Helstons Titan Hiver. Supposedly waterproof (not tested in anger - when the weather has been wet I've used thinner goretex gloves and heaters), full leather outer, hard knuckle, soft palm reinforcement, primaloft insulation and CE marked for motorcycle use.

They've been plenty warm enough to not bother with the heaters most days recently (yesterday was 1 degree C on the way to work according to the bike), whereas they would be on with my other gloves. Seem very well made for the price - I've been happy with my other Helstons summer gloves that have seen some serious mileage, these seem a bit better if anything.

I know some folk on here slate them, but I had spada enforcers for a few years and they served me well. Used to be around £50, now seem closer to 70, warm enough, although a little bulky.

I now have Alpinestars polar gtx, which are great, but around £120, so over your budget.

Incidentally, the oxford hotgrips seem to be reduced pretty much everywhere and are now £50, so right on budget (i think to make way for the new 'advanced' ones)

More than 100 but they work very well at keeping the handy-pops cosy. Even in arctic conditions.
I have been using mine for over five years so they are a good investment.

I use Dane Basic 3 Gore-Tex gloves.

Often been out when the temp drops to near zero & I didn't have undergloves. They my hands warm regardless.

Ive used a pair of these last 3 winters
Waterproof,less than 10 quid
Warm,ive ridden to and from work through ice and a few snowy mornings
Not too bad feel although i ride a crunchie 3 speeder

I have the Spada Enforcers, Linea and Richa cold protect gloves and the enforcers are probably the warmest but a fair bit bulkier and you get sweaty hands with them.

The Richas are the best of the three IME, all 3 were genuinely water proof (I tested by dunking my hand in a bucket for 30 seconds or so) the Lineas were the least warm.

Heated grips then gloves or muffs are the best option IME though

I got some of the 20 quidders Rog linked to up thread - bloody horrible, they are. Only available in XL - thought that might just work as I prefer a larger size winter glove. My hands are average-to-large - so XL would probably be too big. Right? WRONG. XL is tight and not really very X nor even L at all.

Lining nearly pulls out. Gloves are so snug they tend to compress the air thus making them quite cool and uncomfortable. They offer little in the way of feel because they're so stuffed with lining and insulation. However they do seem quite strong and would probably offer reasonable protection for palm and knuckle in the event of a half-decent binning. Maybe XXL would work okay? Not going to risk it. Went back to summer gloves this morning, rode for three hours in 4-5 degrees of cold, lots of frost on verges. Hands were cold but bearable - I just put more layers under me jacket to insulate core temp, and that worked tbh. The amount of extra feel on the controls was worth it too imo.
