Hello. I am new to this forum and to motorbikes. I am planning to get a 125cc soon as I recently passed my CBT exam. I have been looking at bikes which are suitable for my height which is 6 foot 2 and that are cheap for insurance. Recently I have come across a Derbi GPR125 (Sport). Therefore the question is Am I too big for the bike? If yes what else would you recommend? (Apart from Honda Varadero)

Regards (Im 17 years old and weigh 9 stone)

Shocked Shocked you need to eat some pies!

I’m 6’4” and weigh a fair bit more than you.
A few years ago I ran a Honda CG 125 just for the hell of it.

Ride what you want and anybody says anything, tell them to f*ck off.

The Derbi Terra may suit your gangly legs and arms better. It's not a "sportsbike" although it does feature their full 15bhp motor.

They're nice. I'm 6'4" and I had one for a year when I first got back into biking.

He does, I'm average height/9 stone and just scrape into the 'normal' BMI range. If I was that tall I'd get a supermoto, but that's mainly cos I lust after bikes I can't reach the ground on.

At 9 stone, it really doesn't matter what 125 you buy, even the crappiest Chinese clone commuter, it'll be the fastest learner bike on the roads in your area. Laughing

If you couple a 9St rider with a light bike, and the full 15bhp, it'll be the quickest 125 around, no matter what color power bands the kids with the ''well fast cos its a race tuned MX, big bore'' fit to their bike.

I'd say look at alternatives, it'll be alright size wise, but you'll dwarf it a bit.

I actually liked the GPR for its looks... Tempted to bag one, solid Yamaha engine.
