Really? You mean they're not just using a arbitrary date? I am genuinely flabbergasted.
Edit: I think it's slightly broken for bikes. Checked a few bikes that aren't (AFAIK) euro 3 and aren't subject to ULEZ according to that checker. DTs, XRs etc.
Edit 2: checked a 2002 Hornet that was liable, and a 2003 Hornet that isn't. Have they set the checker to Euro 2?
No one tell them if that's the de facto list |

The rac have a full list of all the standards and their dates...
https://www.rac.co.uk/drive/advice/know-how/euro-emissions-standards/
Strikes me that the ulez tool calculates the euro3 window based on that used for cars, however a motorbikes euro3 implementation was later (2007). Or it hasnt been designed to recognise a motorbike registration from a car.
Explains why mine is showing ok - Euro 3 standard for cars was implemented in 2001, and mines on a 2002 plate because import.
Time will tell if the charging system has been set up on the same misunderstanding.. |

That'll be why then, AFAIK it goes by registration date, which even when you apply it properly means a number of non-compliant bikes squeak through. You often see TDR 125s imported/on a later plate. |
