UPDATE, project canceled, scroll down (End key on your keyboard).

Hello, it's been awhile since some pictures of the new Jawa 1000 leaked. The 1000cc, made by Jawa, twin cylinder engine was announced years ago and no one really thought they'd pull this off. Well, it is here and uglier than ever. You can clearly see the gov. money wasted on some tasteless engineer's dream.

Jawa got approx. 530,300GBP from the gov. for the prototype. They are also talking about a all purpose 1200cc motorcycle.

I kind of like it. It's ugly no denying but there is something about it that makes me want.

The price tag will possibly change your mind. Jawa does not make expensive motorcycles, their basic model of the 660 is 168,500CZK, which at the moment is approx. 4,505GBP. But, I can imagine this one going around 250,000CZK/6,684GBP. And just look around what does nearly 7000 pounds buy you these days.

1GBP = 37.4CZK. The Czech national bank devalued the currency for some reason, it used to be 1GBP = 29CZK not that long ago. So, it is perfect time to rape my country. They say they will raise the value of the currency at some point, so if it's gonna be back to let's say 30CZK for 1 pound, we're talking 8,333GBP for the Jawa 1000, if the price tag will be around the 250k CZK mark.

Interesting Thumbs Up

I hope they can get some success with this and get back to producing bikes on the scale they used to.

That bike looks like the results of something I'd put together with my total lack of engineering skills. Well that or an 8 year old did the drawings for it - with apologies to 8 year olds.

The Jawa 660 is a quite sucesfull and well made modern motorcycle. They used Yamaha 660 XTZ engine, the previous 650 version had Rotax engine and the reviews are pretty good. Thumbs Up

But as always, Czechs can not do the marketing, advertising, properly. To demonstrate what I mean, I doubt you'd have known a rather small car company called Skoda, if the VW did not own it.

If it had been a 1000cc 2T twin based on the old Jawa 250 2stroke twins, then yes it would have been interesting, but if things like the Benelli TNT or Husqvarna Nuda can't succeed, then I don't know how just another 4stroke 1000cc twin can?

I also know what a real Skoda looks like. Now for the Skoda vs Lada debate.

If MZ went bust, with what to me were some well finished, cleverly designed and rather tasty looking motorcycles, Jawa have no chance.

I really liked the way MZ were heading with their 1000 paralell twin.

It was also real, in production and worked. Also sufficiently different from everything else on the market to make it a real alternative to everythone elses offerings.

https://www.motorradonline.de/sixcms/media.php/11/thumbnails/MRD_08_2005_MZ_1000SF.jpg.1659398.jpg

You have to wonder if Jawa would have been better spending their money buying the tooling and designs off the MZ liquidators?

Nothing is official yet, and those Jawa 1000's look undone. But, they got much closer to the actual production than the other Czech manufacturer FGR with their V6 2.5L.

UPDATE

... and the whole Jawa 1000 and 1200 project is canceled.

They canceled the Jawa 1000/837 project, after 10 years of rumors and ''R&D''. The fun does not stop there, obviously. The whole project, that being the Jawa 1000/837 and a 1200cc enduro version, was co-financed from the tax payers money. There will be Police investigation.

The reasons for the cancelation:
1) The whole development took far too long and the machine/s is/are already outdated and wouldn't sell well.

2) Jawa lied about the development of their own 1000cc/1200cc engine. They just bought a MZ 1000 engine and put fake panels on it to cover it up. That is also where the Police started asking questions, because Jawa used 48m CZK of tax payers money to develop their own engine + two motorcycles (1000/1200 enduro), while failing to fufil any criteira of the subsidy. No body also knows, where the money went. According to the law, they were supposed to introduce a production version of the Jawa 1000 and 1200 by a given date, which they obviously failed to do.

*The management of the company lied to the bitter end. Last year they claimed they will release the Jawa 1000/1200 in the Q1 of 2017.

They were supposed to get 93m CZK in subsidies. For some reason they only used 48m CZK and they paid the rest + reconstruction of their factory and other bits (about 100m CZK) out of their own pocket. Yet again, 5-0 has a few questions here.

3) The 1000cc engine, they had, didn't even fulfil EURO 4, let alone EURO 5 (2021) and they didn't have the money to modify the MZ 1000 engine to make it compliant.

The top left picture (fake clutch cover and cylinders) is what was presented in 2015, the bottom picture is the same Jawa a bit later on (the fake cylinders cover removed) and the top right picture is a stock MZ 1000 engine.

Not seen this post before, but, the MZ pictured is an Aprillia Tuano / Falco. Its what many Falco owner do, combine the best of both. So all anyone needs to do is by up Aprillia's tooling, strangle the engine for Euro compliance and claim billions from the Eurocrats. Pity we're leaving the EU, I could be a millionaire by Christmas.
