That R&R looks to use an unobtainium connector housing, however the contacts inside are plain female 6.3mm spades.

I suggest soldered and heatshrinked to replace the lower stator connector and 6.3mm spades on the other end, plug directly in to RR. Mine has been like this since 2012, when I also got the battery, still works fine.

I did the same on my sister's ZZR when I replaced the knackered stock RR with one of the MOSFET types. Was like that for years with no issues.

Tuesday night I pulled the old stator out.

Made a new gasket.

And then on Wednesday night a new stator was waiting for me when I got home from work.

I then got rather pre-occupied with getting it fitted and seeing if everything worked, so err, no pictures until this.

Rode it into work on Thursday morning and it all seemed to be fine. On the way home however the voltage seemed to be fluctuating a little once it started to warm up. Not horrendously, but it should be rock steady.
As suggested earlier, it looks like the stator going may have taken the r/r with it. New one on it's way.

The stator was £83
New cable, heat shrink, some connectors, £20.
Another r/r £65.

It's easier than it seems. Wink

But still, I'm glad there are still people that use proper paper gaskets where they should. I hate people who put sealant where there should be none.

Punches and a multi-pack of gasket paper from amazon with free next day delivery was cheaper than a pre-cut gasket and a three day wait.
Cutting the gasket was rather satisfying too.

If I get another charging system failure I'll be tempted to replace the whole efffin' lot with OEM or better rather than repeat the cycle of replacing one component which had already weakened a neighbour, which then goes down and weakens the next, and so on. The OP's first voltage test of a new reg/rec appeared to be relying on the used battery to provide the volts, which wouldn't give me much confidence. Alternatively, as soon as there is any question in your mind about the charging system stop using the bike before the cycle of damage occurs, and trouble-shoot to find the faulty component.

Well, I guess it'll do for now. Laughing
For future reference (11 months, 3 weeks) what are the preferable brands?
