American Horror Story Cult

Anyone watching? It's a harder watch than the other series which were (mostly) brilliant.

Cult relies on the horror of American politics - both sides.

The main character is an over-the-top ranty, shouty, right-wing mentalist, trying and often failing* to convince others to support his views.

He's beyond parody and, I believe, based on Mpd72 Very Happy

Back on topic, don't bother, it's not that good. Watch AHS Freak Show instead.

*Apart fom a butch of muscle-Mary's in their vests and pants.

I prefer this one to the previous one. Roanoke was a snoozefest for me, I find this one more creepy.

Binged my way through 'The Good Place' over the weekend.

Nothing ground breaking in premise but thoroughly enjoyed it and all the cast are pretty good, Danson especially.

S2 stops hallway through and doesn't restart until next year Sad

Bojack Horseman. Watched one episode. Can anyone explain?

Haven't watched it properly, because there's hardly any of it on youtube - but when I've seen clip compilations, yeah. Haven't got a fucking clue tbh.

One animated series I have been into recently though is F is for Family. Kind of an adult Simpsons. Bill Burr. Almost actually moving in places. Lots of laughs too.

Also watched all of the Beyond Stranger Things episodes. Some interesting stuff in there from the Duffers explaining why and linking things together. Good insights from the cast too.

I tried but everyone was talking over each other so I turned it off.

Peaky Blinders has started again.
First episode was fabulous. It's possibly the BBC's finest work ever (The show, not the episode).

I've almost finished Master Of None (S1 done, S2 Ep 8 at the min).

Not bad, better than expected (not a massive Aziz Ansari fan) but it is OK.

GLOW is getting binged this weekend.

Also, started recording and watching old Fast Show episodes on Sky.
Brilliant!

I'm working my way through series 2 of Designated Survivor. I'm not getting on with it as well as I did with series 1, it seems to move on from one event to the next really quickly. I hope they chill a little with it and actually develop an overall storyline rather than bouncing from thing to thing. Its disjointed.

I have not watched the latest Red Dwarf but I want to.

Having now done S2 of stranger things..yada yada, it's all been said, I've started on The Sinner.

Seemingly normal housewife commits random murder in front of dozens of witnesses for no discernible reason.

Getting lots of good reviews, we'll see how it shapes up.

Well, my OCD kicked in and I finished:

Preacher S2. Just enough non-Tulip to be enjoyable. Very much did like Julie Ann Emery and her portrayal of Lara / Jenny.

The Expanse S2. Once you get past the budget not being up to it, it's... OK. Still winds me up no end when they use theatrical physics in crowded space. Just about competent enough. The unnecessary potty mouth from Shohreh Aghdashloo is a bit grating and quickly loses its impact.

And against my better judgement, I followed a Netflix recommendation and started:

Salvation. Planet killer asteroid come, what do? Apparently take lots of breaks from stopping it to feel that we need to discuss our feeling feels. More irritating than entertaining, real daytime soap cast, with the exception of the ludicrously luscious Jacqueline Byers who may - and I don't want to jump to such an important decision hastily - may be my new Alyson Hannigan. Teases me with Cannae drives and gravity tractors then gets a solid F in Fysics for asserting that the latter would only work on one rock rather than a pile of rocks. GRAVITY DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY. Biggest grind was name checking SF authors without mentioning Niven (Hammer time) even though they have a dreamer fithp. Tut Tut

The Monocled Mutineer mini-series from the mid '80s could theoretically fit that sort of bill. It was released on DVD in 2004 iirc.

Righto, finished The Sinner and it turned into something of a let down.

Bill Pullmans character brief must've read "Squint at everyone, preferably sideways" and the writers must've toddled off half way through and took the plot synopsis with them as the gaping holes in the characters stories later on defy logic.
Contains facesitting.

Anyhoo, onto The Punisher.

The Punisher mid-way review: it's a little predictable and not all that original. I also didn't realise there was required reading viewing, as I think he showed up in Daredevil and like all Marvel stuff they assume you've already seen everything they've ever made. Daredevils bird(?) also makes an appearance... see had I not seen the Defenders I wouldn't have a clue who she was either.

Yet I've found myself watching on Embarassed It's not great but watchable. My Netflix trial runs out in a few days so I'll probably finish it.

OK I finally found the time to track down S1/E1 of Stranger Things, and am about to commence watching it.

Its Friday lunchtime, I've only worked Tue/Wed/Thurs so far this week, and I really do need to work my top-bollocks off, Friday afternoon/evening.

Not at all sure this is a good idea, but fuck-it, the rent's paid and there's food in the fridge and gas in my car.
Twisted Evil Pass the popcorn

I'll just watch one episode .... Shifty

Finished 'The Punisher'

Brutal, yes, when it gets going, far too much talking, not enough shooting bad guys imo.

Now starting on Michelle Dockerys tits....er, I mean new series, Godless.

Managed to watch S1E1 of Stranger Things and then drag myself away to go to work.

Am back now, so might just treat myself to E2 and maybe E3, depending if I can stay awake, and if its interesting enough.
Cool Thumbs Up

My car needs new tyres so I can't work till they come in on Monday afternoon.

I *could* do some editing work, but fuck it.
I'm now officially on Stranger Things catch-up.
S1 E6

I can stop any time I like, you know ... Shifty

It's all a bit Stephen King, though, innit?

Apparently they had the kids do scenes from Stand By Me at their auditions.
