EURO IV twin cylinder two stroke from Italy.
So, some Italian lads from the Ferrari F1 division decided to make a motorcycle in their spare time. Before you all get moist, they ask/will ask 40K eur for the road version and 50K eur for the competition version.
But, it is an interesting idea, nonetheless.
Both versions are going to have the same 90° twin cylinder two stroke engine with DFi and the radiator above the engine (as seen in the pictures). The road going version is going to be 249ccm and the competition version 288ccm. In what class are they going to compete with that?
Anyway, here are the more interesting figures; the production motorcycle engine is going to produce about 60hp (might be a bit more in the end, depends on how much will they have to restrict the engine to fufil the EURO IV regulation) and for the competition one they claim 80hp. All that in a motorcycle weighing only 95Kg for the road version and 85Kg for the competition one.
80hp in something that weights 85Kg, now that has to be fun.
This article isn't about a 40K/50K eur bike, it's just to show it's still possible to make a ''green enough'' two stroke today. My question is though, why don't bigger companies make two strokes for the EURO spec market anymore? If some Italians can do it in their garage, what holds the big players back?
