Far as I can tell it's Russian = dodgy with no actual evidence Neutral

I don't remember their software being very good anyway, and I think they had a data leak a while back (but what firm hasn't).

There's a fair amount of evidence for Russian state interference with other countries' (including the UK) systems. Kaspersky is suspected of providing a mechanism for access attempts and because of this, all UK Government departments have been instructed that their software can no longer be used on any system that is rated secret or top secret. Official rated systems are exempt from this.

Make of it what you will but we have Kaspersky at work and when we had an outbreak of ransomware, it failed to detect it and they were very slow to respond to notification. Our schools, which use MS Defender caught and stopped it.

We'll be reviewing options when the contract expires. I wouldn't give it houseroom personally.

As above, I don't think it's very good, they just promote the hell out of it (with Ferrari sponsorship etc.). I'm not going to buy into the Russian conspiracy until I see evidence.

It sure is. I think along with AV they're mainly [tin foil hat time] about stopping piracy than protecting users.

Hence my scepticism. The Russians got Trump elected, caused Brexit yada yada. Are we really that thick? Sure Americans are but they're still living in 1980. Kaspersky aren't spying on you, North Korea didn't hack the NHS Rolling Eyes

it's shit software but that news article is completely scare mongering, there's zero evidence it's been used or is able to be used for those purposes, I can understand why government systems may want to use something else as a precaution in case it was but meh

I had an email from Barclays at mid day informing me of the news.

When I heard this on the news about 9 am I had a feeling I would be contacted.

HOWEVER..... I bought a single licence two days ago, £14.99,
TODAY it's £34.99...
