Do these things work; System mechanic, AVG Tuneup? I've cleared a lot of storage space from the PC by deleting a lot of defunct stuff, updated drivers and it's noticeably quicker now. Will one of these Tune up type programs make any difference?

I've used AVG tuneup and it does work, mainly because it kills most background processes/programs. The reason I didn't buy it is that it's (like everything now) a subscription service Confused Probably worth it if you really need to use an old system full of shite, otherwise a clean installation's cheaper.

Dunno about system mechanic, I used to use something called registry mechanic which worked wonders, but I think the days of cleaning up your reistry and seeing a noticeable difference are gone. As is doing a defrag, do people still do that?

AVG tune up is basically the old Tune up Utilities which I've been using
since 2006, it's very good in many ways from removing the shortcut
arrow to cleaning up the PC. Yes It's now a subscription and you don't
need any codes. The reason why I still use this is because it works and
it's safe.

Won't the old ones still do the job? It's a bit like MS Office, I've no idea why you'd need a subscription. Think I went Office 2000 > Office 2010 Laughing

Indeed the older versions will work, I have 2012 version running on
another computer which is running windows xp/windows7.

I don't really need to have the subscription but I would prefer the latest
version with the latest windows which I got for free.
