There seems to be a tapping sound coming from the engine, I have checked the valve clearance and they are fine and I have also looked at the chain tensioner.

The tensioner seems to be fine, had it apart and all seems to be fine, there is plenty of adjustment distance on the piston the tensioner seems to keep the chain taught like it should.

After doing all of this there is still a tapping sound, I thought it was the valves but they are within spec so I have no idea.

The sound seems to be coming from between the top end where the valves are and down where the tensioner is which made me think it could be the chain.

Any ideas?
Thanks for your time Smile

The tensioner is automatic, so have you resetted it and installed it with the plunger locked and then released when done?

Yeah I have done that and there is still loads left for the plunger to adjust if needed so the tentioner isn't the use from what I can tell
