Summertime is over and any idea of touring is out of my mind.
However I still think about what’s next!

On my trips out this year I used my dry-sacks to good effect.
But my sleeping bag is a bit big to go into a dry-sack.

So my question is how do you lot keep your sleeping bags dry whilst traveling on your tours.
No I don’t want to use a black bin bag, I’m looking for a more permanent solution.
Black bin bags are to easy to tear.

Ideas please oh mighty BCF Thumbs Up

LOMO bags I'm told are seriously waterproof? Seabags?
Kriega stuff is fully waterproof (thus far).

Hard luggage Very Happy

https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=261033

This can be as simple as bolting a top box to your seat (I'm selling one cheaply) and buying a spare seat.

But what you're looking for are Kayak bags. Mine was fine until the webbing broke and it went under my back wheel.

We use some Lomo kit underground - decent enough stuff for the price. If I didn't have Drybags everywhere already, I'd be looking at those.

+1 for lomo bags.

The one I bought came with a free diving magazine. I haven't been diving with it... I don't dive.

My Anjuliac mammut 4 season sleeping bag fits in an Aldi drybag. That's the hugest sleeping bag I've ever seen.

I use an ex-army arctic down bag that has its own stuff sak which has waterproofish properties, I then shove that inside an exped compression bag [got it when I was using it to fill an airmat [but they always popped on me somehow] to kip on but since then started using the lightweight cot [thermarest got the license to make 'em - not cheap but a godsend if you easily get cold in your back / have back problems, elevates you just enough off the floor to make your sleep a whole lot easier]

The compression bag is waterproof, I then shove that inside a large rucksack which holds all my middle / big sized items together, easier to get on the bike & is waterproofed also. I place the rucksack so the sleeping bag ends up being a comfy backrest for me whilst riding on the bike.

+1 for Lomo, mine has been on a few trips now (probably about 10K miles worth) and, while the straps are starting to pull away because the bungees have been a bit tight sometimes, it still has plenty of life in it and hasn't leaked a drop.

Because this is a pepperami thread here is a picture of it in the Pyrenees on my CB250, on the way back from Sierra Nevada near the bottom of Spain Cool

As you can see, it's big but it's not quite too big. There's still enough room to sit on the seat. I keep the tent in there along with a memory foam pillow, sleeping bag, air bed and clean clothes which gradually migrate into the top box when I can't bear to wear them any more. Not only does it keep the stuff dry but it's a good way to keep heavy things in a place that doesn't upset the bike too much. Fairly marvellous all round really. Lomo also do a roll top back pack which is pretty good, though there are an awful lot of clips and dangly bits to get tangled up in.
