Took out insurance with Bikesure. Now, I know before other companies have asked for details like proof of no claims etc but this crowd of bastards are wanting access to my whole life in order to stay insured.

This includes photographs of my photocard license (both sides), a code from the DVLA to access my data, NCB which is fair enough but so much for sharing fucking information. They obviously don't. 4 full colour photographs of my bike showing each side including the number plate Eh? A fucking HUGE list of questions, some of which I already have answered in getting the fucking quote in the first place. It's like a days work. They want photos I'll give them a couple of `good` ones.

I'm not cut out for this modern shitty, emoji electronic world. I can only assume it is for the lying cunts and vermin that scam their way through life and avoid insurance.

They did this shit to me. Its a piss take and I can only imagine what they'd be like if you tried to make a claim. I cancelled during the cool off period and went with a normal insurer.

I'm all for supplying any details that mean they can root out fraudsters or people lying to get cheaper premiums but this lot took it too far imo

If you really want to stick it to them, set fire to your bike and make a claim. Idea

Preferably before you fill in all the forms.

With you on the bike.

Great idea. I might just torch the house too. Double whammy. It isn't even my house. Thumbs Up

It has been suggested that they make their money from the cancellation charges and that they don't actually insure anyone as such....

To be fair, Bikesure is the only outfit that we know of that is prepared to broker the insurance of Learners on big boy bikes. That means that they're actually aware of the law and prepared to put some trust in us to follow it - after they've established the facts.

eBike also used to ask for a lot of evidence, and were also (strictly past tense) proper bike insurers who let you list any number of modifications and added pennies to the quote rather than counting a tank pad the same as a turbo-nitrous system. They've since gone dark-side though.

I was with bikesure, think I've been with them twice

First time round they wanted a scan of my licence (fair enough)
Data tag paperwork (fair enough)
Proof of no claims (again, fair enough)

That was about all they asked for.

renewed with someone else for a year then back again and they didn't ask for anything.

Insurance fraud is on the up, people want prices keeping down. Insurance firms want to make sure their cheaper policies are really as low risk as the customer is telling them.

What's the problem? Unless of course the customer isn't telling the truth....

It's not a days work. If you can't do all that in an hour, give up now and go to a high street bricks and mortar shop and pay a lot more.

First world problems.

No insurance, no insurance fraud, everyone's a winner.

I'm looking forward to the day when they demand a photo of yourself wearing a tutu jumping through a hoop beside your bike to remind us how far the country's slumped.

Send them a photo of you on one wheel, side on, both sides. One from the bike behind you and one from the one in front.

Sorted.

A days fun work.

I've had the same insurance for over 30 years so reading the OP is a bit of a shock.

'Same insurance' being 'no insurance because you don't need it on a pedal bike.'?

Pretty sure that Norwich Union moved out of the bike game 15 years ago. 30 years ago it was rider polices with Norwich Union

It certainly was. I had one for all my formative bike riding years. Great policies. As long as you were under the maximum cc you had registered, you could have any bike at all Thumbs Up

Mildly related and topical. Quote I've just had on the Porsche as that's due in a few weeks. Very cheap it be.

From a brokers who are an authorised representative (ie not FCA approved in their own right) of an MGA (an underwriting agency that underwrite using another company's capital carrying no risk themselves) who have a binder (a contract which allows them to bind business on behalf of another company) in place with an underwriting agency in London (a 'front' to get round offshore trading) who have delegated authority (same as binder, just wider remit) from a Maltese based underwriting subsidiary (who do nothing but provide a form of FSA regulation - FSA not FCA as it's regulated in Malta), who ultimately cede (pass) the risk into a Qatar based reinsurance company.

Jesus. How the layperson has any idea who they're actually insured with. Just goes to show there's still a lot of cheap offshore capacity being used despite the busts of Enterprise this year.

That enterprise book was nasty. It was going to be tricky to make money out of it before Ogden.

The changes to the Ogden rates have been largely reversed.

I still say that saying a 3M claim would become a 8M claim shows a lack of knowledge on how discounting actually works and was just the insurance companies crying wolf as an excude to increase premiums excessively

NU pulled out many years ago but all they did was stop taking on any new policies but current policies would be honoured and I still have the same rider policy. I'm allowed 4 bikes on the policy, any CC so I can still have a Ducati Monster if I really want to..

So, you had a rider policy with unlimited cc since the 90's? When did you pass your test?
