Just sorting my renewal...up by 30%.
Inb4...yes, did compare sites etc. Bunneyetts wouldn't budge. I can get it cheaper, however....

Just would like to find out if that is an average increase across the board?
And what haggling tools work?

It'll have to take someone to need £100k a year and have an expected remaining lifetime of 45 years.

How many of them do you get?

Don't waste your time trying to haggle when you can get it cheaper elsewhere.

Get some cashback as well. Thumbs Up https://www.topcashback.co.uk/category/bike-insurance/

Just wanted to know if this was the year's average increase. Spend a lot of time telling pupils to shop around, then, I see a massive jump in price.
Another company goes on my 'watch out at (automatic) renewal time' list.

My caravan policy renewal went up by 70%, my car policy renewal came down by 6%.

Not sure on my bike yet

There's no rhyme of reason to any of it.

I'm in the third year of declaring a (partial fault) accident, so after one more year I won't have to declare it again Dance! I've not noticed any particular loading, it's just that some insurers aren't interested if you've had a smash.

tl;dr 30% is way over the odds and they're just trying their luck. If people want to stay with the same insurance company year after year because of some type of misguided loyalty then so be it.

The 30% price increase shows just how much they value you as a customer.

As we all know they discount (cut the % they keep from the ins co) to get your custom.
So any figures of average increase are pure speculation.

Just wish the FCA would take them to task and rather than make then publish past/current figures and "You might get it cheaper eleswhere" and make then publish their Cut for your custom.

It's also interesting to note many have a T/C stating we charge £XX for renewal of a policy WTF.... Twisted Evil

It's no surprise so many people ride/drive without insurance. Not condoning it, but, see why they risk it.

I can understand 4 wheels oddly enough, they've virtually priced young(er) drivers off the road, and if you need a vehicle for work what are you gonna do. Bike premiums still seem to be reasonable enough I can't really condone going baklaf.

They have priced themselves off the road.

Dunno, but not quadraspazzing all of the occupants of your car in a 'watch this' moment whilst txtin ur bae would be a good start.

My insurance is up quite a bit too, mind you it's the broker fee that's the real ball breaker.

I know we've done this a few times but I enjoy it everytime so...

Was that during a 5 year period? I remember in '05 being quoted around £1200, and that wasn't even shopping around cheapest. In 2010 a pal (a few years younger) got a Clio and paid 3k for his insurance. In 2012 I passed my rage cage test, barely still a 'young' driver... quote was £2800 for a Corsa Laughing

Either youngins have got spectacularly shitter at driving, or something else has gone on. Also compare this to a bike, where R125 hero has a high chance of quadraspazzing his girl on the back, but doesn't pay anywhere near as much. I also still wonder why 2 seater cars aren't any cheaper to insure, if it's all about the likelihood of potatoing your passengers.

Wotcha.

Seeing as I sold my Kawasaki Drifter earlier in the year, it means my remaining bikes are all classed as classics . . . . my insurance dropped by £106

The trike insurance is up next - I bet that one goes up to compensate.

Mine was about £65 this year, I'm chalking that down as a fluke and expecting my renewal offer to cause many tears when it lands in a few weeks.

It's the % increase I'd like to see us compare. Actual costs are immaterial...if they stick 30% on mine, that's only 38 quid. Fully comp with all benefits, then ok, I can afford it. But then, if everyone starts accepting it, those of us paying £000s are fucked. New riders are getting stuffed, biking becomes more expensive than driving. Hmmmmmmm.

OK, my insurance on the bikes decreased by about 15%
Motorhome, no change
Car decreased by about 10%

My nephew got his first insurance on a 50cc scooter, he's 16, and he's paid ~£230.00, compare that to my neice who got a car at 18, insurance was well over £1500.00

^ that's a very good quote for 18. I think it'll take some collusion for insurers to get bike insurance anywhere near to car... wait for it Laughing

Just been on the phone to Bennetts re,renewal. Paid 323 last year and was quoted 336 this year, apparently my policy being with Aviva they don't discount for the 1st years no claims, which I find a bit odd, is that normal as I was expecting up to 30% off.

The salesperson explained that due to high theft rate of motorcycles in London, policies have increased and other insurers were quoting her 500 ( this is to insure a YBR125 and Im 45, provisional). Finally she got it down to 308, which I wasn't impressed with so told her to halt the automatic payment renewal procedure (sneaky b*stards)

Any other better insurers out there? Confused
