I bought one, I wanted a laptop but bought this, pretty stupid really as I know nothing about Macs.

I paid £100 from Cash Generator. It's got a 250GB hard drive and 6 gig ram and a core 2 cpu.

https://i67.tinypic.com/t7li0g.jpg https://i67.tinypic.com/35jge1h.jpg

It plays DVD's OK and Safari is strange, I've downloaded Chrome for it as Safari wouldn't play any YouTube videos. The thing I can't work out is that Chrome and Safari won't go full screen, you press the green button and it gets bigger but does not fill the screen?

YouTube will fill screen on 'full screen mode' Chrome/Safari won't. It started to get dark in the room, keyboard lit up which was a shock albeit a nice one. So basically, is it worth the £100 I paid? Is this the best operating system on it? It is fun to learn new stuff, it just seems overly complicated to Windows systems.

Help.

Or Control+Cmd+F should toggle in and out of full screen

Is it worth £100? Possibly yes. Is it the aluminium unibody MacBook Pro?

OSX 10.6.8 is Snow Leopard. You can probably run later versions, 10.11 I think, maybe even newer, depend what model it is

https://www.irradiatedsoftware.com/sizeup/

First thing I install on my Mac and one of few things I ever bothered paying for because I hate my Mac without it.

I don't use the buttons at all and have shortcuts for full screen, left, right, center, etc.

£100 sounds very reasonable considering the ram. It took me ages to get used to using a mac.

One thing you'll probably need is force quit (in the menu when click the apple in the top left) This is like ctrl+alt+del on Windows.

I've never really understood how to install programs on the mac or why it always asks you to manually drag and drop the program into your applications folder. I seem to get it done, but don't understand.

That's pretty much it. Dragging an app into your Applications folder will install it

Not to be That Guy, but have you considered trying Lunix on it?

Ubuntu Unity seems fairly MacOs-ish (as in, they both give me the dry heaves), or Mint comes in a variety of tempting flavours.

You should be able to live-boot and run off of a USB stick to see if they play nicely before deciding whether to purge BSD MacOS.

One of the things I had problems with when moving to the Mac was Finder, i.e. it wasn't Windows Explorer.

Found an alternative called Mac Explorer which unfortunately is no longer supported, but they're supplying a free licence for anyone who still wants to use it :-

Just installed a fresh copy last night. 70% of Steam users are still on it.

I'm totes (half) serious about trying a Mint (or Ubuntu if you really must) on it.

When I worked for a digital media agency, quite a few of our mac users used some form of Linux on them, although I seem to remember Ubuntu being the most popular

So are people going back? I saw something a while back that Win' 10 had overtaken Win' 7 on steam. Maybe people got sick of random BSODs and shite performance.

I can't see them ending support for Win 7 in 2020.

You'd have to ask People. I'm going by: https://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey

Certainly the majority of our customer user base is Win7. One of our smaller customers did go to Win 8.1, which was an odd choice considering Win10 was already out
