An interesting point was also brought up earlier in this or another thread.

Say we do stop it... you think the EU will let us back in gently?

That the economy will ping back to where it was 2 years ago?

IIRC Volker or something with a European sounding name said of course you will allowed back.

But you need to adopt the Euro, enter into the Schengen zone and oh no rebate (whatever is left of it after Blair gave up a lot of it).

Thus it's become similar to the babies in 300 where they are bathed in wine to test their fortitude. Quite a lot of them ended up dying.
