You can do the front wheel if you put it under the sump instead.

same as what i do when i cant be fucked to put it on the paddock stand to lube the chain..

Not entirely sure I'd trust that Thinking Fairly certain episodes of 999 used to start with something similar.

A frame stand is best, probably cheaper than a pair of good paddock stands, and will take less space.

Cheapest option buy a used centerstand from a cbr6 and consider it a removable tool rather than part of the bike. There is only one bolt so its quick as anything else to remove - just dont try to put the springs on - so dont ride with it.

I work on all sorts of bikes. Paddock stands are handy, but useless for suspension work. Heavier, taller bikes can be awkward to mount and unless its an old snotter, its not something you want to practice with.
Abba stands are good, at a price.
To this day, I still laugh at the struggles people seem to have. A cheap electric winch and nylon strapping, mounted to an overhead beam, or even a nice, strong A frame if that option is not available. Work on suspension with NO risk of the bike toppling over. Front forks are easy. Remove engines easily. The list goes on. £30 from Lidle for mine, used it for more years than I want to remember, lifts lumps of Harley with only the effort of pushing my thumb on a button. Whats not to like?

I was thinking along those lines but with an engine hoist or some kind of scaffold and winch set up.

ABBA stands,as others have suggested, appear to be the best choice of stand.Several friends have them and are very easy to use

For many of my bikes I have ordinary tubular stands that are more than adequate so as to be able to service both ends at the same time

Anyone notice that you can't take a swinging arm out on an Abba stand? £200 + and you are still fucked.

Yes you can. There's a fitting kit exactly for that purpose.

Paddock stands are definitely worthwhile, but I often end up doing it this way...

That works even better if you pull the pins out of the footpegs and turn the pegs upside-down. It sits very stable on the axle stands under the up-turned pegs.

Aye, but the footpeg hangers had to come off to get the mainstand off which had to come off to get the unitrak pivot bolt out. It was like some sort of recursive nightmare. Like the old woman who swallowed a fly.

With a 20% off on ebay today, managed to get sw-motech center stand for 140.
Seemed like a better option over robust paddock stands with price being roughly the same
Will update when it arrives and installed next week
