Did what is becoming the norm for me - a few hours in the pub then back home with friends for Jools, then waiting up until all the kids are home and tucked up in bed safely. Got to sleep eventually at 03.30...

Went to bed at 23:55, sober as usual. Heard a few fireworks. Resolution - to ride more days in 18 than I did in 17 (about 360 Laughing ) Used to party many moons ago. Raining now, washing away some salt but Sun due pm. I'm liking January already!

Ride safe but fast this year, guys! Dance!

Working out in the pole studio all day yesterday, came inside to a roast beef dinner at about 8pm followed by copious
amounts of Prosecco, Hop House 13 and many, many pipefuls of weed. Watched a star trek movie on demand. The stupid one with
beastie boys music saving the galaxy, Rolling Eyes then sat on the sofa with the wife and the dog for a bit of Jools hootenanny to see
in the new year.

Dressed up as a leek. Got plastered visiting the many cellar bars, bistros and pavement cafes of our local town.

Stripped off on the bandstand and nicked a homeless guy's sleeping bag to wear.

Had a wee on the war memorial but managed to dodge the police by hiding in the fountain.

Climbed out once the coast was clear and crashed a party in the local pub. Well I thought it was a pub, turns out it was just someone's tastelessly decorated front room.

By midnight I was twerking on their kitchen table and on the twelfth bong, I totally did the splits.

Writing this in handcuffs on the local psych ward. Curse you CCTV

The plan:
A. Paella and lolz with MCW
B. Drive people to parties
C. Snooze in car til past midnight
D. Drive people back from parties (SFX: cash register )
D. Home by 5/6am-ish

The reality :
* Watch episode of Mindhunter
* Smoke joint/sneeze a lot/search for antihistamines
* Decide not to go anywhere until straightened out a little
* Watch another episode or two of Mindhunter
* Shower, dressed, warpaint, lively-up-self
* Drive to MCW's (12 minutes)
* Realise upon arrival that actually still more geschmuttered than plan allows
* ... (and definitely in no fit state to drive passengers)
* Put "Going Out Shift plan" into abeyance
* Several very happy hours of paella and cozy MCW family fun
* Sober up considerably
* Leave in time for the "Going Home Shift", avoiding almost all the traffic (super-yay!)
* Earnt enough to justify being out there til 7am and then went home to sleep.

An abject lesson in financial self-sabotage, but it was nice to feel human and (dare I say it) normal* for the first time in weeks.

*Clearly, neither myself nor MCW really do "normal" but it was more normal than I had been in the preceding fortnight.

I've been ill as fuck after spending christmas abroad. Feeling better today but last night was spent in bed. Wandered outside at 12 with the housemate to watch some fireworks but that was it. Already have 3 nights out planned in the next 2 weeks so I'll get over it.

Costs a bomb anyway for what usually turns out to be a shit night.

Had a party, much fireworks, many high, very fun.

One of the better ones actually, even allowing for friends being occasional nightmares.

Went to mate's house, had a load of beers and half a bottle of vodka, we then went to town, went to a bar, bar staff ALL missed the countdown so new year was a near non-event where the only sign of it happening was a sudden pressing of play to get a rock version of auld lang syne going, ultra anticlimax, after which we decided to see what the local clubs were about, then laughed ourselves out of the queue after learning entry price was £15, bought two large pizzas for a tenner, ate them then went home.

I sat in playing xbox, then turned telly on at about 10:50, watched telly with missus, had a slug of tonic water to toast the new year in, watched a few local fireworks from the garden, then played xbox till 5am

radio 2 was rather good until 2am, anna electronica or some such, then the next 3 hours all the stations seem to be unstaffed bots mostly, but Absolute had a passable selection

drank coffee and finished the final Tankmas Challenge:Rudolph and won another free tank Embarassed Embarassed

They timed the gas bottle explosion well

But phoned the police themselves we think as stabbed at 8 minutes to midnight dead at 12minutes past

Reports say knife wound
Rumors say throat cut

Plan was to catch up with old secondary school mates in Birmingham and have a civilised, adult time at a few nice bars to see in the new year.

What actually happened was:

- Went out with old school friends and their assorted siblings/Uni friends
- got drunk
- tried it on with my mates sister
- got nowhere
- Egged on by my other frends, continued to try until my mate tried to punch me
- Gave up on the sister and bought him many sambuca shots as apologies
- Got completely cunted (The New Year happened here somewhere, but we didn't really notice)
- Missed last train home
- went to club
- Sang many shitty 90's tunes
- Woke up at 11am this morning at mates house clutching a pizza box and a half empty bottle of vodka. I've lost my voice, my dignity and most of my money. Fuck knows where the sister ended up.

10/10 would New Year again.
