Hi guys, if I eventually went for my A2 licence, I know your restricted to something like 45 bhp, but the bike I really want I can have on an A2 licence. If you hold that licence for 2 years can you then automatically jump up to any bike you want, or do you have to do your test again on a bigger bike to hold your full licence. Cheers

you have to do it all again

if you turn 24 before then you can do it before the two years is up and theory should still be valid

Your name suggests you're over 24, if that's the case do the full license.

There are proposed changes, but *at the moment* you have to do another test.

Read about that. Well, something about auto-upgrade after certain hours of lessons under instruction (A2 > A).

Waiting out because A offers zero benefits over A2.

Introduce a licence upgrade training course

We proposed to introduce a training option to let riders below the age of 24 ride larger motorcycles by progressive access, without having to take a further practical test.

92% of those who responded to the consultation support introducing a training course that existing riders can take to upgrade their motorcycle licence.

We’ll need to carry out a further consultation to work through the details of how the licence upgrade training course will work. We plan to consult on this in Spring 2018 and will let you know when we announce this.

The Euro3DLD allows for this, but I can't see it being a legislative priority #BecauseDespiteBrexit.

I agree with just doing full A if you can. It'll cost exactly the same as A2, and the training bike will be much the same, or identical.

Thanks guys, wasn't 100% sure on the rules so just needed a bit of help with it. Might as well go for the full licence then. No point in re taking it in 2 years.
