Interesting!
Hmmm, for convenience, that has to be a pretty good bet. Might give it a shot. Depends on the price of the parking for 3 days.

Will look at that next time I am there (and I truly hate having to collect people from Eurostar, its a huge long walk from the car park to the platform and back)

Direct, apart from the changing train at Brussels. Razz

They seem to be between 4 hrs 38 mins and 5 hrs 52 mins each way. Okay that includes between 45 mins and 1 hr 45 mins waiting around at Brussels.

Confused

Yeahhhh I was just working that out Thinking I only live 10 minutes walk (maximum) from LCY, and it looks like AMS airport isn't that far of a taxi/bus ride in?

I ain't doin' bicycles, I don't care how frickin flat it is. Laughing
Really should get my Harley/GSX out of the Garage of Perpetual Lockdown and get them MOTd. Rolling Eyes

I'd be interested in this to say the least. I wouldn't be able to manage it until a little later in the year though.

Also, I'm with hellkat on the above. Last time I rode a bicycle, which was a few years ago now, it nearly f'kin killed me and turned my legs to jelly and that was just riding it around the block. Laughing Embarassed

Need to sort a passport out too as my Manx one expired in July. Hopefully I won't have any issues/delays getting an English/British one.

It's a short train ride from the airport to the city centre. Thumbs Up

When you get on a train that says Amsterdam on it, do make sure that the train is going to Amsterdam rather than coming from Amsterdam Embarassed

Cycling in Amsterdam as a stoned tourist would be very dangerous. It's dodgy enough having to walk across roads avoiding trams and the billions of dutch cyclists who take no prisoners, joining in with them would be asking for trouble.

Copies of this map with the hotel marked on it is useful. The Quentin Arrive hotel is at the top of the map, opposite the Greenhouse Lounge coffeshop. https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/Map.html

Greenhouse Lounge, eh.
Is that your suggested Operations Base, then?

Shows how long ago that I was in Amsterdam. Magic mushrooms have been banned since 2008. Trip truffles will need to be tried.

Ha. I was going off of the "Direct trains" bit on either the website or a link to it somewhere. Still, it seems to be a decent proposition for the Southerners.

I wish I had the time/spare money to invite myself along, but I have a wedding to pay for.
I went in October though, stayed in a place called Hotel Luxer and it was pretty decent, cheap and clean. Was just outside the red light district too so everything was walking distance.
Drinks are more expensive than most bars in London in most of the places I went.
Space cakes weren’t worth it. Tried one for the novelty but it’s like the weed equivalent of a single pint. Cured my hangover after the ferry crossing though.

I have been assured by a lad I know well who goes 2 or 3 times a year, that Lost in Amsterdam is *well* worth a visit if there's a group of you. Raves about the atmosphere, and apparantly, the milkshakes are the fucking bomb by all accounts Bring your own devil's lettuce for this one.

Hope you guys are still up for it.

What dates are people thinking of? I'm available every second weekend.

I might take in the Van Gogh museum, but only if I get trips first.

My mates coming too. He did have a 125 for a few months so he counts as a biker and he's a cunt so will fit in well. Smile

Just to add to this make sure you have a few weeks booked off work for when you return as I can't promise I'm not going to batter you black and blue.

Give it your best mate. I'm planning on getting so wrecked that I won't even notice a good old battering. I'm a lover not a fighter Razz

I don't work anymore so no probs there.

Well I was thinking about the end of Feb/Beginning of March, like Friday 2 March to Sun 4 March; I was considering going on the Thursday and coming back Saturday cos I need to do at least one weekend evening. But I'm flexible.

Does anyone have a straitjacket they can bring for Bodyguard?
Only ... I feel he may need gimping.

.

Those dates would do me. What about accommodation? I'm going to try and book up the Quentin hotel on Ste's recommendation I think.

I might stay from the Thursday or Friday too the Sunday or Monday, haven't decided yet, see how much difference in flight costs.

Edit no difference in flight costs, easy jet do a return from Edinburgh for £87 return...flying at 05:50 in the morning Shocked . It's £107 return flying at 09:30 Thumbs Up
