How many times can one thread be dredged up?

Although... I'd have one.

25hp, and apparently over 190kg wet, depending which lie you want to believe.

I am sure it will be a good bike, but look at it, it's just another small capacity machine (pretending to be something it's not) that'd get lost in the parking bay. It's got no charm, it's not a Van Van & tbh I wouldn't be seen dead on it.

My wife wanted a Fiat 500 but bought a "safe" Suzuki Swift, it ran without any problems for 3 years but she was never happy till she got the Fiat, it's got charm, she can't stop looking at it, cleaning it or driving it, same thing.

Which is why I bought a w650. Great bike.

Sold it.

Turned out looks count for shit. It's what happens when you're on it and can't see it that's by far the most important thing (to me at least).

The Skyteam Raptor 250 is notionally still available at £2K + OTR, which is about what I'd want to pay for the Van Van.

Can't actually see anyone selling one though, and it'll be another casualty of the 2017 Eurobollocks.

I had a vanvan 125 as my first bike and do miss not having it in the garage sometimes, but then I think back to all dread of seeing another hill loom in the distance on a long trip Laughing

All part of the charm though! Was fun as hell just ploughing down muddy farm tracks and pissing about.

Other way around for me, it might be the best bike I've ever had but unless I like the looks, I just won't care for it. Same for my cycles & scooters. I've never bought a bike on anything but looks tbh!

I know what you mean, but mine has a 13 tooth (one less) front cog and hills are no longer a problem & I have very hilly commute, it's made a huge difference not having to hunt between 5th & 6th..maybe 4th as well! Very Happy

Keep an eye on the wear to the front end of your chain slider if you've gone down a tooth. It's not always easy to see it on many bikes - and you may need to take the front sprocket cover off to inspect it properly. Sometimes, especially if you prefer your chain very slightly on the slack side (as I always have), a smaller sprocket will bring the chain into contact with the chain slider more regularly - due to creating a slightly different angle of incline from the top of the rear sprocket to the top of the front one. This rarely makes much difference, particularly if you lube the chain regularly with EP90 (or similar). However, if you favour a less regular regimen with a drier form of lubricant, and the angle of chain-run created by a smaller sprocket happens to cause more chain-slider contact, be careful.

I had a chain-slider collapse on me on my CRM250 - it broken into several pieces and then got caught up in the front sprocket, causing the rear wheel to lock up. Luckily I was on a housing estate after going green laning, so only doing about 25-30mph. But it was a bit of a shock. I thought the engine had siezed! Quite relieved when I sussed out what it actually was.

I've found something negative about owning a Van Van. I was stopped last week by the police, first time in over 20 years, they wanted to "know my license status". Confused

I argued with them that they could stop anybody on any bike to ask such a thing and why the fook had they stopped me. I put it down an overly officious cop, but no, it happened again tonight!

I am 53, owned full license for over 30 years , I can ride any bike I like, apart from a Van Van without L plates it seems. Shocked

Well, they can. They don't have to give any reason at all.

Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, third time is enemy action. If it happens again, I'd assume that you - or more specifically, your plate - has been flagged for attention. Feel free to fire in with a complaint, but the easiest route will be to either change the bike, or put a private plate on it.

I was going to suggest that - would seem very likely it's got an ANPR marker on it.

As title. Just bought one of the last 125cc VanVans. Not got it yet but hopefully next week. Never had a bike before but I love the look of this bike so had to have it.
Cheers

So, have they become a victim of the new regs? Shame if they have.

Still showing on Suzuki's site:

https://bikes.suzuki.co.uk/bikes/street/vanvan-125/

Although they do have form for selling new-old-stock for years after it's been discontinued.

Sure, when you start reading a topic then realise it's from before you were even old enough to ride a motorbike Neutral

Old Thread Alert!

The last post was made 6 years, 40 days ago. Instead of replying here, would creating a new thread be more useful?
