Been hearing it on the "Last minute panic, go Argos" ad all fucking night, so I thought I would listen to the real thing, the whole way through, instead.



It certainly does fit the ad, I can't deny that. Its like all madly rushing headlong into the Christmas week. So its really relevant.

I like the bit at about 1:48 where it kind of stops and bonks about a bit*, then goes back to rushing along all helter skelter again.

Cooler than a penguins chuff: these composer guys are so fucking talented, isn't it.




*this is the moment during which, when normally listening to it, I stop and do sort of dramatic jazz hands, before going back to the madly-rushing-about dance.

Elvis was good when he first hit the scene. It's often the case that those that follow can improve on the originals, or they may just take one aspect of a preceding artist's music and distill it into something that begins to take that music elsewhere. Scotty Moore was a great guitarist though, whose contribution is often underrated. And if it hadn't been for Elvis, country music might have developed in a very different direction. It might have meant that all we listen to today would be very different. He melded country music and blues to create rock 'n' roll in the way we know it now. That's not to say someone else wouldn't have, or even didn't, do it, but the Elvis influence shouldn't be underestimated imo.
