For the uninitiated what's going on here: https://youtu.be/LKJIljD7dJs?t=17m14s

I thought shaving off tread (was that a thing?) but it looks like they've gone a bit too far? Confused

I'd say it was pre-scrubbing the tyre for better grip on the edges.

I remember one of the great GP riders, although exactly who escapes me, cutting his own pattern in a slick for a gp race.

Almost certainly removing releasing compound from a new tyre. It's no longer a thing but new tyres used to be like riding on ice when first fitted. Rear is easily taken care of by a short burnout but the front needs to be "scrubbed" -in this case, literally-. So this rider has probably fitted a new tyre between qualifying and the race. Again, not such an issue if there's a formation lap but they may have been doing a sprint/push start.

Other possability is they got red-flagged and ran through some oil on the way in.

Somewhere between 27 and 70 ... Shifty ... depends who I am talking to.

Somedays I'm at the northerly end, some days I'm at the south ... most days I tend to balance out at about ... 38 and a half.

Last week I was considering changing my CV to say 42 ... cos I dyed my hair and look younger(ish) than usual Laughing
