Riiiiiight... So little did I know how much University would take over my entire life.

I wanted to say 'hia!' and a) let you know I'm not dead and b) vent my frustrations at a lack of riding time.

My bike is dead.
It's been sat in the garage since I moved to this crazy little town and I have no power in said garage, so the battery is kaput.

I legitimately had a dream last night where I push started the damn thing.

I'm desperate. I miss my bike. And the Ducati battery is a pain in the ass to get to... So I'll be trying to do that today. I got a wall charger... thing. Please keep your fingers crossed for me?

If anyone in the Gloucestershire area feel like being a helpful hero Laughing and helping me deal with the thing that may well turn into a pile of bits if this anger doesn't die down and get solved.... Then cool Thumbs Up Especially as I think I may need to deal with that bloody stripped bolt in order to get at the battery...

I want my bike back!!

... That is all.
Happy New Year all you crazy whatsits.

Is it under the tank? I feel your pain (from the MT-03) Smile It was quicker to take the bike for a ride than remove the battery for a charge.

Indeed it is. >.< I've never removed the tank before and I couldn't even get the bike to the local dealer if I tried. I'd have to walk it the whole way and there's no way I'm doing that.

Unfortunately I live near no hills so a push start isn't likely either.

I spent most of last night watching various videos on how to do it. I'm just hoping the battery charger thing I bought will work for it. Otherwise that's £30 out, and me even more annoyed. :'(

Give it a bit of time, I'm sure a helpful BCF'er will step in and save your day.

Laughing I'm going to give a shot on my own anyway when I get home. I'm just a bit concerned as, after watching those videos, it seems a really big task. Thinking

You should try the Honda VT125, where it's under the seat but you need to remove a bolt behind the rear wheel to remove it! Mad

I would say dive in and do it yourself, that way you can learn and be more able to cope when it happens next time.

East Anglia-to-Gloucester, err a bit to far for me to come and help, sorry.

How long has the bike been sat? It should charge as long as the voltage isn't too low.

Since I moved into my Uni at the beginning of November.

It definitely has some charge as the display lights up. Just not enough to turn it over.

Many bike chargers like optimates (and my basic halfords one come to think on it) come with flying leads you can leave attached to the battery terminals with a plug on the other end which you route to somewhere convenient so it's easy to plug in.

Even if you don't have one, it might be an idea to make up a flying lead you can use to plug a charger into. You'd only really need one off the positive terminal, the neg can clip to the frame if the battery is connected. Just make sure the "flying" end is well insulated.

A more specific location would be helpful. I'm in West Birmingham, and have no problem with travelling a bit to help.

A lot of people did that on the MT03 owners forum, definitely worth it if you don't ride all year round.

Not something that I'd do on a CANBUS or electro-trickery bike. Straight across the terminals.

I don't know what OP has, she didn't post enough pics for me to read that far.

It's an '08 Monster according to her profile so should be conventional shonky Italian wiring.

Can't you bump start bikes any more? Does the FI have to prime now with these non carbed bikes before they will bump?

You can. I bumped the MT-03 (totally flat no priming), it was hard work, and the battery ended up being f**ked. Not sure if the street triple would, it wouldn't start the other day when the battery was a tiny bit flat Confused

Near cheltenham to be more precise!

...what now?

I did think about trailing an extension cable out to the garage from my flat, but I reckon my nosey Parker neighbours may become a bit spastic over the 'elf and safety of it. Hence the desire for removal and internal charge attempt.

bump start

Yes, it should be possible to do this, but apparently I have to get the bike up to ~10mph speed before attempting to turn over the engine, and there's no way I can run that fast while pushing a 152kg bike, and the closest hill is up Confused

If I had any working transport I'd have offered to help, all my bikes and my car are in bits though unfinished as is normal for me. Im not sure I still have it, but I did have an Oxford optimise charger with fly lead, that I won't ever use again, after it blew up my AGM battery.

Maybe it still works fine on lead-acid batteries, I'll never know.

Fit a lead for a maintenance charger while you're in their and drop it out somewhere convenient so you never have to repeat the exercise. CTEK make some good ones and they come with all the leads made up and properly protected , available at Amazon for the right kind of money.https://www.amazon.co.uk/CTEK-XS-0-8-12V-1-2A/dp/B004RADNCQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1516704446&sr=8-2&keywords=ctek+charger
