Anyone got a spare old metal rack thats scrap or cheap laying around? I've just purchased an old police box for the bike. Want to put a rack on top for adding more luggage. Thought I'd ask here before I go to ebay.

Also what would be the best will to block in those holes at the back so I can make the inside waterproof.

You mean like a metal renntec rack?

I think the one on my fazer carcass survived the fire. It'll need painting but it's all yours for the cost of postage.

On my phone at the moment so its hard to upload images I've included a similar rack im after. One with a bar at the top so I can have an extra strapping point.

Could you take a picture of it please. Want the rack fit in the gap at front. But I'm getting a k1100 and another k100 to play around with for cheap so I'll most probably take it anyway. Fire damage doesn't matter.

Silicone for the holes or fill them with epoxy resin- araldite is most readily available- tape across the bottom of the hole, fill with araldite, remove tape when set.

Or an appropriately sized blind grommet (this would be the best).

Considering that you're cultivating a rat look, I'd just put multiple layers of duck tape over the holes, in the messiest way possible.

What you ideally want is something like this that I had on the topbox of my Goldwing.

However they do not come cheap, even second hand so I presume a hacksaw, a welder and some rusty old pile of dead rack is your best option.

As the borg said, I'd tape over the holes. But fur a slightly less ratty look if put some reflective tape on the outside; diamond grade red if it is pointing backwards, as I think it is from the pics. Then plain duck take inside. It'll cost a couple of quid for the tape and look neater than filling (unless you then properly prep it and repaint the box).

Or you could get some of these lights in red and fit them in the holes in the topbox.

Funny you should mention about painting it I've already started with the black on the bottom, second coat is on now. Going get some sleep and then do the top.

Yeah it's pointing backwards as you can see in this image more clearly you can also see the stickers covering the old holes. They had to go really not my taste. It has come from lithuania after all.

Turns out all of the paint melted off, but the metal is solid still.

Thank you I really appreciate that.

Fyi. Got to painting it and sorting out the seat not to everyones cup of tea. However making it comfortable for me. Need find an old car now to take the head rest connectors out of so I can fix up a frame and attach them into the bike seat.

Loads more work to do on her before back on the road hence why the mudguard is loose.

General service. Fork seals. Fork gaiters. Brakes bleeding. Drill the bolts out.
