3.50 tyre alternative

A bit of advice needed - looking to get some new tyres for a GN125 and im stuck with either really crap looking moped tyres or changing the tyres slightly. Just want a decent all-round commuter tyre.

Front is relatively easy to find (2.75 * 18) but the rear is 3.50 * 16.

Looking around the various conversion charts I get differing opinions on if a 110/90 * 16 would work well or if these are a conversion from 3.75 or 4.00 tyres and i'd need a 100/90 or 90/100. Dont want to throw the balance of the bike out or force the tyre into a shape that knackers up the grip.

The option I am currently looking at is a 110/90 Metzeler ME77 with a ME22 on the front.

Anyone had any experience?

I fitted a pair of metzelers to my Suzuki en125 last year after trying a pair of continentals, I found the contis felt like they were slippery/ no grip all the time , the metzelers are so much better. the only time I have to worry now is in the wet and manhole covers/white lines.
On mine it recommends 80/90 front and 90/90 rear I've fitted 2.75 front and 3.00 / 3.25 rear.

I'm tending to trust the wemoto conversion rather than some of the others so think i'll give them a go, especially with the positive reviews!

Metzeler themselves responded to an email saying its not ideal and told me to go with the Pirelli City Demon tyres - but they look terrible and can only find bad reviews online.

The problem with city demons is the raised central tread, the rears are okay but the front is LETHAL.

I had a city demon on the front of my CB250 once and even at the correct pressure the bike was so unstable I replaced the tyre after 1000 miles with a Bridgestone BT45, I've been using BT45's on the front on the same bike ever since. My only problem is I can't get a matching rear tyre so I have to have odd brand tyres.

Yeah they look like mountain bike tyres - bad ones at that! I'd love BT45s as heard nothing but good things about them but I can get 2x Metzelers for the price of one front bridgestone and it wouldnt be an ideal fit.

Good to know im right to avoid the city demons though!

The BT45 is a pricey tyre, my front costs about £90 but worth every penny, just a shame I can't get a Bridgestone for the rear.
