Basically a load of OEM supplied Brembo master cylinder have been found to have plastic pistons. If the master cylinder takes a whack, or after hard use the plastic piston can crack and compromise the braking!

It's the radial master cylinder they like to use with the M50 calipers, so a load of high end bikes use this M/C. So far just Aprilia and Ducati (including Panigale Superleggera).

I suppose KTM and MV Agusta are to follow?

No word on the EU market yet? I guess something will come out next week when everyone's back at work.

I don't doubt it'll be coming. I'm sure Ducati UK are currently nursing monster hang overs and Aprilia UK won't be back in the office until March so maybe something will happen then. Razz

As for KTM, and MV Agusta (who also use this set up amongst others) still no news.

MV tend to use Nissin master cylinders with Brembo calipers. I don't know why.

(Looked in a little bit further and I think the F4 RR is the only model with M50 and that'll be with Brembo radial master cylinder. M4 is more usual monoblock OEM item.)

Interesting. Thumbs Up Same as Suzuki.

I wonder if this is the same M/C they put on the 2016 ZX10R and performance sport ZZR1400s.....

Position statement

Brembo SpA, a leader in the production of disc brake systems for vehicles, following the recent publication of some articles by the international press, mentioning wrong information, points out that:

-Thanks to the constant quality monitoring over its production processes, it has uncovered the possibility of defects to the piston of the front radial master cylinder (diameters 15mm and 16mm), sold between 2015 and 2017 and mounted on some motorcycle models.

-The only manufacturers affected are:

Aprilia

Ducati

KTM

MV Agusta

TM Racing

Moto Morini

Horex

-The recall does not affect other manufacturers nor other master cylinders, or master cylinders sold as Aftermarket kits through the Brembo distribution network.

Brembo promptly informed the manufacturers of the problem so that the owners of the aforementioned bikes could be informed and invited to have the part replaced at the nearest dealership.

I have one of those radial master cylinders on my R1.As the posted article states,it is not known what will happen to those that are fitted as an aftermarket fixture.

I guess that I will just have to strip it down to have a look see Thinking

Well don't count BMW among that pack of thieves/scallywags as they have never designed a braking system with any defects. Whistle
