2003 Fox-eye Fazer

When I start the bike the gauge shows empty then varies between empty and the correct reading, by which I mean it goes up and down randomly. It's not happening fast enough for the needle to visibly flicker. After a few minutes it settles down to the correct reading.

So which end should I suspect? Tank sender or the instrument cluster?

have you cleaned the block connector?

that's all it was on mine
