[b] hi everyone I was just wondering if anybody knew if more coils in the mageto/stator would harm a bikes electrical system or blow bulbs ECT.. my stator has gone and the direct replacement for my engine has 8 coils and the original only had 5. Obviously more coils will feed more current to the system but will it blow bulbs or damage the battery or will the bike regulate the power and only deliver what it actually needs? Thanks in advance guys.

If I were you, I think I'd get in touch with the supplier and ask them. Might be that there are variations by year.

Does it have the same number of outputs?

Like contact Peugeot? And I'm not sure when you say outputs do you mean the number of plugs/contact points?.

Well. You presumably bought it from someone? They sold it to you as a direct replacement and it seems like it's different to the thing you're replacing. So that would be my first port of call.

By outputs I mean does it have the same number and colour of wires coming out of it with the same connectors fitted to them?

I think it's quite likely they two things aren't compatable. I'd want confirmation from a reliable source before going ahead and fitting it.

The main problem probably isn't the number of coils but the position of the ignition pickup relative to the rotor trigger. It might fit your bike but I'd imagine you'd need a different rotor to go with it.

EDIT: The first ones I'm seeing on ebay all have five coils too.

Tried contacting the manufacturer and the bike isn't on their system any more and it comes with a plate/ rotor so one would believe the 2 are compatible the only other difference is it has a plug instead of 4 I individual space clips for the cdi but the wires and coloures are the same so I would have to fit spade clips. And I'm not sure how to check the ignition pick up.

Hi there all fixed now managed to find the right one off of an aprilia rs 50 and got it sorted I'm now having issues with jets I had a 83 main and 24 idle and the bike used to be a 70 I believe and if changed back to 50 the bike would be sluggish and really struggle and could only reach 30mph after a very long climb somebody told me the perfect jets for a 50 with aftermarket exhaust would be a 110 Main and a 35 idle well I went out and bought those and it's worse now the bike idles super low at like 12k and then cuts out and the bike takes even longer to pick up speed I can go through 3 gears and not get above 10mph now can anyone advise on better jets I'm now realising I should have gone smaller with them rather than bigger any ideas? Thanks
