For the few quid it costs, I'd replace the fuel line and filter. Easy enough to do yourself, your garage doesn't seem to know any more than you, so why pay them more?

Checked and put a coat hanger through the line, and put a new filter in.

I'm wondering if the broken headlight which I put back in the case and taped back on myself could be causing an earthing problem at high vibrations? I know it's a long shot.

I have wondered that on more than one occasion, but they are adamant that everything in the carb is working fine. They say they have had it all out and checked it all.
