This is a decent enough example. It's the proper way to do it. Some people/tutorials miss the initial hook out, which is important.

I'd personally heat-shrink it afterwards, fuck NASA standards. ____________________ '98 VFR800 (touring) - '12 VFR800 Crosrunner (Commuting) - '01 KDX220 (Big Green Antisocial Machine) |

Try solder sleeves. Easy to use, results in a strain-relief'd waterproof soldered connection. I think the RayChem ones are the originals, and they were avionic spec so no problems with vibration etc.
This video shows how easy it is:

time ago, I'm deeply aggrieved if I have to leave one in a vehicle, they are easily as strong as an unbroken wire so movement
isn't an issue, Where I've needed a more watertight connection then a bit a dot of clear silicone in the ends first then heatshrink
over the top has done the job, most recently fitting the Stebel Nautilus to the Sprinter, just behind the grille, so watertight was
important. Also completely idiot proof requiring no more skill than it takes to unscrew a lid and put it back on again which
I find very handy.
